Quick Silver Diamond Review

I haven't used this hardly enough to review it, but being the first Saw I've ever thrown I wanted to give you Buzzheads at least a little something.

Drilled 4 inch pin to pap and cg next to , just above the thumb (5" pin out ball) box condition cover.  X hole in the thumb quadrant.

Not as long as I expected it to be, but had way more midlane than I expected it to have !  This is my first experience with the PowrKoil 18 cover and WOW.....

Still clean thru the front, strong midlane (you can see it reading) and a nice strong arc off the dry.  Pinged a quite few 10 pins with it, but I'm not saying that's the ball, just giving you my experience so far.

I like the look, very true rolling...I'm assuming that's the core and the hit is very nice, nothing extraordinary, but very nice.

More to come as more games are thrown..........

The midlane read *may* be because of the large pin-CG and the placement of the CG near the thumb. This is still a medium-light oil ball, **in general**. Pinging 10 pins again *may* be the long pin; they seem, for me, to take longer to go thru the skid/hook/roll cycle and if you don't hit enough dry soon enough, they come in "behind" the head pin. It may just need a little use, a bit lighter oil or a just a touch of a nylon pad or some tiny combo of all three to function as you like it.

Given half a chance, PK 18 hits pretty hard.

charlest i was under the impressive that a large pin NEGATES an early midlane read. My power charge is drilled almost identical as jeffs silver and i have no trouble pinging 7's for me.

It MUST be the ball.

I received a Silver Diamond last week. I was bowling in one of my leagues and not really wanting to try the Silver at that moment. My Inferno was giving me fits so I decided to throw the Silver.

I moved about 7 boards right, using the same target. This line was dead on for the pocket. What happened? I left three 10 pins in a row.

The Silver did seem to sweep the pins straight back into the pit. I am thinking that once I train it to carry the 10, it will be a great ball.

I have had 3 or 4 balls with PK18 and I am amazed by the life in the coverstock.  The PK18 seems to last forever. I have never had to tweak the cover on any of the balls with this coverstock.

PK18, in my opinion, may be one of the best coverstocks ever on a bowling ball.

You can't make such generalizations. Jeff has the CG very low, near the thumb. Even with the weight taken out appropriately, it often results in an early roll PLUS this ball is very even and mild in its hook, Soooo, you can get an even earlier roll. "can" means it's possible. it has the potential, not necessarily the actuality.

The other factor is that long pins do take, as I mentioned above, longer to go thru the hook cycle. However, we have a lot of MAYBEs and COULD BEs in this scenario (Note the asterisks I placed around many of the words in my notes!!). How the factors balance out can be tricky thing, which is why -
drilling is a combination of science and art.

OK....hmmmmm.....

A few more frames with this thing last night before league......struck every time...HARD....messengers flying !  VERY NICE.....  I was practicing w/ the ball I usually use (and the line) , got lined up, felt good, then grabbed the SD to toss a few.

Since last week I touched it w/ a little RenewIt because of how early it read,....I stood 5 deeper than my normal line at this house and went over the 3rd arrow expecting it to be light......uhmmm NO!  It sniffed dry and just charged the pocket, not sideways, but just strong hard arc! K-RASH!  I thought to myself,....hhmmm, interesting, do it again....

I did....and again, and again....

It felt like speed didnt' matter that much because it felt as though it was going to recover regardless....does that make sense.....

In case you're wondering,... I didn't use it last night because I dont' have enough time with it yet to try and score with it,.....but I might next week !

Makes me VERY interested in PowrKoil 18 ....... what else comes in PK18 ??

I know about the Blueberry, Cranberry, Danger Zone, Smash/R, Time Zone, Bruiser.....

Inferno, Red Fuze and Igniter are all versions of PK 18 with chemical additives, also.

According to a chart sent to me by Tom Tomaras of Brunswick:

I do like the roll a lot ! No doubt, hit is nice too, but not anything more than my Roto's and my Hercules......at least none that I've noticed  YET.
