XXXL vs Original Blue Pearl Hammer
« on: November 24, 2003, 12:50:23 AM »
For those that have thrown both, which ball is stronger?  I'm using a blue pearl hammer as a spare ball now.  I would like to replace the blue pearl, since it is a pin in ball drilled over the label (my mistake) with an XXXL probably drilled 5x4.

A blue pearl Hammer is much stronger, because it's urethane instead of plastic like the XXXL. If you want a similar ball to the blue pearl Hammer, then I would go with the XXL (double xl). This is also a pearl urethane, but it'll be a little stronger than the blue pearl. =:^D

Although both XXL and Pearl Hammer are pearl urethanes. I find my XXL quite a bit stronger covers more boards and use it for mid-light and reserve the Pearl Hammer for light oil. Both have label drills.

I am not so sure I agree.

I have thrown the XXXL against the Black Hammer and I think the XXXL is somewhat stronger. The core on the XXXL is much more dynamic and I think the coverstock is also softer (albeit plastic vs. urethane). This could be a function of pin to cg distance in part but I am not 100% sure.

The XXL is for sure significantly stronger than the Blue or Red PEarl Hammersor Turbos.
