Hey everyone. I recently picked up a used cherry bomb. The ball was in decent condition and it was stated that the ball had around 40 to 50 games. I plugged the ball and fully resurfaced it. I finished the ball by sanding to 800 grit and polishing it. I drilled the ball stacked leverage.
The reaction was unbelievably weak. The ball would flare and try to hook, but nothing... Really reminded me of a ball with 200+ games that was saturated with oil. On the same condition, my polished Thing was considerably stronger.
Just to make sure I didn't miss something, I wet sanded the cherry bomb to 800 grit. Typically this is a very strong surface for me. The CB still skated and made very little attempt to turn the corner.
It is just very weak. My XL out hooks/reacts the cherry bomb on every condition. I was under the impression that the CB is a very strong ball. Before the "bad core/bowler matchup" topic comes up, also have a super carbide bomb drilled in a similar fashion the rolls/reacts wonderfully for me (in super heavy oil).
Is it possible that this ball actually has 200+ games on it instead of the stated 40-50 and its just thrown out? Has anyone else ever seen this with the CB? I can't think of any other reason why there would be basically no reaction...
My next question is, would it be worthwile to spend $40 on the Ebonite Hook Again treatment? According to Ebonite it will bring back the reaction of the ball to within 1% of NIB. Has anyone ever used this product? Does it work?
Thanks,
S^2
