A benchmark ball for medium-light to medium-heavy conditions.
15 lbs, pin below and right of ring finger, CG in the thumb positive quadrant, weight hole at PAP, 2 1/2" pin buffer to the VAL, 3/4 oz positive side weight, 1/4 oz thumb weight, 1 oz top weight after drill (3 oz prior to drill).
Dual angle layout: 45 degrees x 3.75" x 45 degrees with a P2 weight hole.
The Buzz Attack (BA) is one of Lane Masters’ recent releases. I thought the Buzz Attack would be an update of The Buzz but this is not the case. Compared to The Buzz, the BA features a lower radius of gyration, a higher differential RG, and a stronger surface due to the mica in the reactive pearl cover. I see it listed as a particle pearl. Consider it to be more of a reactive cover on steroids: Easy to maintain and versatile. The construction is also different in that the Buzz Attack utilizes a core, core wrap/filler and a couple of inches of the Endurance Micron Pearl coverstock while The Buzz is a true two-piece ball featuring core and coverstock only: The BA features a higher differential RG and a lower coefficient of restitution. The result is a ball that is a natural on all medium conditions. In comparison, The Buzz covers the light to medium range. The Buzz Attack and Terminator Rebellion cover a similar range of conditions.
The Buzz Attack is an excellent baseline ball. If the box 1200-grit sheen is too much, the coverstock polishes easily for lighter patterns. One of my teammates used his Buzz Attack at the 2009 USBC National Tournament with excellent success: His best scoring year at nationals. He is a right-handed stroker/tweener that is comfortable between the 15 to 8 boards. The BA is also used by a left-handed tweener/cranker who usually brings it from the outside. By comparison, I'm a tweener that is comfortable playing anywhere from 30 to the twig. I used my Buzz Attack at USBC Open Championships in 2010 on doubles and singles squad. The ball was terrific playing deep and rolling to the track near my break point: Hook set reaction with no overreaction. The Buzz Attack works well for each of us. Highly recommended for anyone from a one-ball, once-a-week league bowler to someone who uses a much larger arsenal for league and tournament bowling.
