First off, this is the first ball since the Storm Paradigm that has made me go wow, and immediately order another. I'm a speed dominant, low rev bowler, sub 200 revs, about 15mph. Drilled the thumb hole into the mass bias per recommendation from my driller. Took this to a center that puts out a 41 foot heavy oil pattern that has been causing me some difficulty. I had been attacking the shot with a Columbia Lit and original Terminator both sanded to 500. The Morpheus Dream was used in out of the box condition. (4000 grit)
Normally I play a very straight trajectory up the board I want to play, straight to the break point. With both the Terminator and Lit, I had to keep moving outside further and further until I was playing straight up 6 or 7, and fighting issues with leaving frequent wash outs or buckets. If I missed right, neither ball had the ability to recover and was guaranteed wash out or bucket. If I missed left, they just slid. I even tried slower ball speed and increasing the revs with inconsistent results. Needless to say a frustrating condition for my style. Now enter the Morpheus Dream, from the first shot, I was impressed. I was able to play straight up 7 or 8 at 15 to 16 MPH with my normal release, the ball would hit the break point and shoot from the 7 board to pocket and maintain a ton of energy as it hit the pocket. Over the 24 games on this condition I put in with the Dream, my strike percentage jumped from 48% with the Lit to 59%. My Average with the Dream was 224.5 compared to 200 with the Lit. Carry was definitely better and a much easier selection of spares was another positive result. Additionally, on this condition, if I missed to the right, even badly, the cover was strong enough to leave make-able spares and avoid disaster. If I pulled the ball, the ball had a decent chance to hold and still strike or continue to leave easy spares.
As the lane condition broke down, the consistency and predictability of Dream made it the only ball other than my spare ball that left my bag. Bowling second set on that same condition against a team of high rev crankers, the Dream started to over react, however simple 1 and 1 adjustments allowed me to stay lined up, playing straight up the 9 board allowing me to continue striking and leaving easy spares. Very predictable, easy adjustments, and while everyone else on the pair was going deep into their bag, the Dream kept hitting hard, and really shined. This ball is made for oil, is definitely a few boards stronger than the Lit. It can handle medium if you chase the oil. As someone who hasn't reviewed many balls, I felt this one deserved it because it was a difference maker.
