Review:
Ball was used on synthetic AMF HPL 9000's after league night. Oil volume is typically medium with a film on the outside where some straight shooters can rocket it from the first arrow. I was able to belly the ball a bit with great success. Somewhere from 14 to 9 with amazing pin carry and devastating pin pounding. When moving inside from like 18 / 17 to 9 with a touch slower speed and several hand adjustments, I found the ball would quit a few times. This ball is not designed to cover a lot of boards. The core strength just won't allow it. The ball would just burn up too early when I would send it to the dry (right). Sometime during the week, I decide to fine tune the cover. I start with 400 grit and finish off with 2000 grit no polish. The following week I use the ball again after league session. Lanes are similar to the week before. The ball reaction was indeed better. I was able to swing the ball a bit more without it losing energy from about 17 to 9 and still able to play the tighter line.

On freshly oiled wood lanes, I played a direct line up 11 for a few games until the oil in the heads simply evaporated. The oil used was not high quality so I had to chase the oil line frame by frame. I had a couple of 230's to start, a 269, and 225 out of the 6 games I bowled. I was happy that the surface adjustment I did prior. It really helped with the ball reaction by enabling the ball to get down the lane a little further.

Overall:
This ball is definitely not a super hooking ball but will shine on tougher lane patterns. Definitely a ball for oil. This ball is not over-reacting, even during oil transition. The ball provides a lot of control. I highly recommend this ball for all tournament bowlers.

*************************
FOLLOW UP:
Since I have picked up some other LM/L pieces that roll almost similar to the way I have the cover now, I decide to alter the surface back to box finish. I now only use this ball for what it is meant to be used on; and that is heavy to medium volumes. The review from above was after 2 league sessions and at the time I was searching for a particluar reaction.

I found out the hard way that all the equipment I had was way to strong for me.  Mike Stewart at the Wild Island coconut bowl watched me bowl and took the pap off my ball.  Come to find out I have an inverted shot.  So I was in the market for a new ball.  Mike called around and talked to a Lanemasters rep. to see what may be good for me.  Long story short I got the World Class.

After about a month of using this ball I realized I have more power, more control and over more pin action with this ball than any ball I have ever owned. I found out the hard way that my old layouts with shot I threw, killed my game.  With everything dialed in for me now my average has increased at least 10 to 15 pins within the first few weeks.

I stand between 17 and 22 for the house shot shooting threw 11 to the 8 and putting 10 in the pit 80% of the time.  I leave a lot of 7 and 9 pins with the occasional 10.  On the sport shots im around the 12 to 14 shooting the 4 and 5 straight up with the same results.  This ball is for more oily conditions, but overall it has been a god send to me.  Mike told me today that Lane Masters are comming out with a secound World Class with a weaker coverstock.  I just may have to pick one up for the dryer lanes.

I highly advise anyone to pick this ball up.  It is by far the most consistant ball I have ever owned.  Hope this review helped.

Thanks again Mike

I want to start by thanking the staff at Lane Masters/Legends for sending us these balls early so we can test them out.

I laid out my World Class 3" x 3 1/2" from my PAP (Positive Axis Point). I tried it on 3 different oil patterns...Heavy volume 43 ft. house shot, 39 ft. sport pattern, and the 2006 USBC Open Championships pattern.

On the house shot, I found the World Class to be strong enough to overcome the flood in the middle of the lane (about 90 units), but when I sent the ball to the dry boards to early, it would burn up and I would be in the weak 10 zone. Also, since the ball uses so much energy in the front 2/3 of the lane, when it was time to move in, I would be in the weak 10 zone again.

On the Sport shot and nationals shots, this ball was king. Somehow the ball gave me about 5 boards of area when nothing else would. When it got to the backend of the lane, it was hit with the signature power of a LM/LGND bowling ball.

I was very pleased with the new releases from Legends and Lane Masters and anticipate the next releases from these two companies.

Box Stats: Pin out: 3 1/2"-4", Top weight: 3-3 1/2 oz.

Layout: 3" x 3 1/2"...My PAP: 4 3/4" over, no verticle...21/32 drill bit drilled 2 1/2" deep, 4" from my grip center on a line through the CG, pitched away from thumb hole

Please excuse the way I describe the drilling of the ball, I don't really know how to put it but i'll try my best.

Well I initially wanted this ball to be used for medium lane or even maybe medium dry. The ball i currently use is the Big Kahuna. As for drilling the pit is placed    on the top right of the ring finger and the cg was kicked out a little (if anyone wants a more detailed description just let me know). Well the ball was suppose to go longer than my Kahuna and just have a sharper angle in the back end. The ball was also polished but not to it's max.

Well turned out that the ball hooked sooner and came back very hard. I throw around 15.5mph with a medium rev count. I still need to explore it a little more, but this ball is very strong in my experience, and i mainly throw all aggressive balls. Also lots of pin action.

On medium dry lanes, I've thrown from gutter to 2 board across the lane and somes back with a punch. Our house shot is described as a tree pattern from what i know.

I drilled the ball up a little different from the rest of my Lane Masters equipment. I put the Pin 4 inches from my PAP, and the CG 3 1/8 inches from my PAP. The pin was 1 1/4 inches up from my midline and since the CG was in my thumb quadrant, a weight hole was place in that area.

I threw this ball on our house shot and the ball was strong in the midlane and made an even and controllable move to the pocket. I found the ball to have good recovery, and it had the same hitting power that you would expect from other Lane Master balls.

This is probably my favorite out of the last couple of Lane Master balls that I have drilled.

Best bowling ball I have ever thrown for medium oil conditions.  Gets a little skatey in fresh or heavier oil given my speed, but your mileage may vary with that.  Definitely needs oil up front to work well.

I have always kept the ball with stock finish, and have over 700 games on it with no resurfacing, not much maintenance necessary.  Legends/LM use of A grade resins and using coverstock all the way to the core make these balls last longer than the balls I have tried from Ebonite, Columbia, Hammer, etc.  For the pro or sponsored player, longevity may be less of a factor, but for those who love to bowl, and play a lot, these balls are the best, in my experience, for about $10-15 more than other top-line bowling balls.

The reaction of the ball is not the same as new now, but closer to new than a lot of other balls I've tried in the past, and the carry remains absolutely phenomenal.  The carry and forgiveness of this ball are without a doubt the best of any ball I've ever thrown.  It gives you real confidence-- if I get it off my hand reasonably well and hit my mark, the ball will do the rest.  If I get a little on the nose, the ball will very often trip the 4.  If I come in light, it will often carry the wallshot.  If I go right through the nose, the ball will very often leave me with a single 4 or 6, but not both like with some other balls.  And I can play it from multiple lines until the head oil disappears.

What more can I say?  This a phenomenal ball.  I am not the greatest bowler, but I am learning, have a lot of experience with this ball, which has definitely helped me raise my scores.

I kept this ball from the sale of my pro shop, as I wanted to try some of this company's balls.

This ball has 3.00 top weight before drilling with a 3.5 inch pin.  I put the pin 4 1/2 inches from my PAP with the MB at a 60 degree angle.  I used a 1" pin buffer, which means the pin is 1" from my vertical axis line.  The pin is about 2 1/2 inches above my ring finger, cg is down under my ring finger.  Drilled the fingers a little deep to keep the ball legal.

This ball is pretty dull out of the box, and I'm drilling the Big Bang also, with this pin position, I shined this ball with the polish provided in the box.  The polish must have a small amount of grit to it, as the towel was turned blue with sanding residue while on the spinner.  The polish worked pretty well, taking some of the sanding lines out of the ball, and shining the ball more than the box finish.

I practiced/threw this ball at Heritage Lanes in Oklahoma City, a really nice bowl with Brunswick Pro Anvil Lane, and a fair amount of oil for their house shot.  The pattern is pretty easy, with a large build up inside about the 13 board, and some hook around 10.  Seems very long also, my shiny Thunderstruck barely changed the shot at all after 8 games of practicing yesterday.

Right from the beginning I liked the way this ball rolled.  Very rolly, making it through the arrows cleanly and then aggressive in the middle third of the lane.  A pretty smooth move at the break point, not very sharp, but very continuous.  The hitting power was very exceptional.  I left a stone 7-9, a couple 8 pins and a couple solid 9 pins.  I like balls that do this, looked like the ball missed the 9 pin by 5 inches to the left, just crushing the pins, no deflection.  The ball snapped the 10 out very consistently, most all of the ones I left during the session were more due to my bad/inconsistent release and/or putting the tape in the thumb at the beginning.

You could see the ball's flare on the back half of the lane, because of all the logos on the ball, pretty predictable, and hit well even when I didn't release the ball as well as desired.

I think this could be a great league ball for fresh oil, and house shots with a good amount of oil.  The shell seems to be too aggressive for dryer lanes and/or short patterns, unless you did some spinner work to smooth the surface and put some really good shine.  (I just ordered some Beans Secret Sauce, we may see what happens with that stuff)

It should have a pretty strong back end move with the shine added, and slower ball speeds will probably like this look.  Higher ball speed players will probably like the box surface better, specially on heavier oil.  Higher ball speeds could probably use this ball well on medium lanes and some dry lanes with the surface shined, I think this might be really nice.  Slower speeds, tweeners will need some oil to use the box surface.  The shell seems pretty tunable, but I still think fresh oil is the ticket, no matter which surface prep you use.

As of now, I think this is a very underrated ball.  A pretty good ball that not many people know about, mainly because Legends/Lanemasters is a small company and these balls can be a little pricier than most.  The hitting power that I saw would make this ball worth a few extra bucks.

Hope this helps ya!!

I have to say that Mike Austins review for this ball is just about as spot on as it could possibly be.

Ive had my WCP for about 3 or 4 months now, which is a long time for me, as im a ball whore.  I have to say, when the lanes are medium oil or slicker, this is my go to ball all the time, & its heavily polished(with beans secret sauce...works great).

My WCP is drilled 4.5" p2p, CG kicked out at 60º, with a xhole on my pap to make it legal.

Out of the box this ball is/was VERY strong, too strong for me on anything but heavy oil.  After taking the burgundy SB pad to it & using beans secret sauce on it, it came alive for me.  I can play any line i need to with different hand positions & have no touble getting to the pocket.

A comment about Mikes review about 10pins.  I have found that i leave a TON of 10pins with l/lm equipment when im really strapping it, i just cant carry when covering a lot of boards with any of my L/LM balls.   When i move right & fluff it, there is no ball ive ever owned that hits harder or carries better, & ive owned a TON of bowling balls in my life.

As of now, i am only throwing L/LM equipment because i love the consistant roll.  The fact that L/LM is the only company currently making their balls by hand, & that they use the highest grade resin with no filler & the best particles is just a huge bonus for me.

Also, if anyone is looking into getting a L/LM ball & doesnt know what drilling they want to go with, give Galen Gentry a call(the number is at www.lanemastersbowling.com).  Galen is the L/LM ball guru & knows just about everything there is to know about every single L/LM ball ever produced, he knows his stuff.

My rating of the WCP as well as everything else ive thrown by L/LM is a 9 out of 10.  The only reason it isnt a 10 is because i cant carry when really getting after the ball.  But i also think that changing my game a bit & using less hand has made me more consistant & more veratile.

Another winner from Legends / Lane Masters. This is another ball I bought used off eBay. I had it plugged and re-drilled Label Leverage. It fits in between my Stacked Leverage Terminator and my 4X4 Yeah Baby.

This ball reads the lanes wonderfully, has a strong controllable and predictable arc, and hits with that signature strength and power of LM/L equipment. This is a great ball for a fresh house shot, and it holds up well as the heads start to break down and you get some carrydown. It does need some oil, though, so put it away if the lanes get drier than medium to medium dry.

Used it in league tonight for the whole session, and rolled 257, 208, 243 for a 708 series. Just a great, great ball.

As far as I'm concerned, you just can't go wrong with Lane Masters/Legends. My "Big Three" ball companies are LM, Visionary, MoRich, in that order. I no longer throw anything else.
