*UPDATED* LOVE my Buzz Attack AND my XD
« on: January 26, 2010, 04:40:15 AM »
BA has a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 layout with a high cg, no WH ... very strong, smooth and versatile !!!

XD still needs a coverstock adjustment that I feel comfortable with tho ... OOB is too strong for the 4 x 3 layout, so I hit it with 1000 white pad first, then tried polished lightly too ... still too much for me, so now I''''m at highly polished and I''''m not there yet (it''''s not in my bag).
Thinking of taking the cover up step by step, without and then with polish, at each abralon level until I find a place for this ball in my lineup.

Any experience or suggestions ??? BTW ... it will need a balance hole to get rid of 5/8 oz of side weight.

Thanx !!!

My XD is 4 x 3 pin above and the cg 5/8" above the ML and currently with a good coat of Valentino's UFO polish ... still need to try rolling it with this cover.
More later ...

Last I heard, Galen is on medical leave for sometime, I think it''s serious and I feel bad, he was a good person to speak with.  His replacement is Tony Martin, I''ve called him numerous times and he is excellent to speak/deal with.

He's there, but not full time yet ... rehabbing from a horrific knee injury that has possibly ended his bowling days time will tell ...

XD update ... too much length with white pad and then UFO polish had them take it up to 2000 abralon and lightly polish with Snake Oil.

More later ...

After many coverstock adjustments, finally have it at 4000 abralon and LIKE it !!! Still VERY angular ... not a GREAT "swing" ball for me, but I can live with this XD at 4K abralon.

My XD at resurrection with LM polish over top has become my favorite and most trust worthy ball already. Taking the place of my BPR at the moment.

It is unique though, I have a weak drill on it and it is still for me a no less than medium ball, on mediums when my Buzz and BPR is working great, this ball kinda burns up before making it down the lane causing a mellow backend.

But when i find oil, which is typicaly at one of my houses Ibowl at 2 times a week it is a beast. I can start the night strait up 10 and slowly move as the night goes on and keep a great line. My XD has good length a solid mdilane roll into a quick flip in the backend that really punishes pins.

So how strong is the BA?

I ask because I have one on the way and am trying to figure out how strong I want to drill it. Right now I have 2 BPRs - One pin above bridge and one pin under ring stacked. I love both of them but want something little more earlier on oil.

I saw a few clips on youtube of the BA and they threw it on Shark from the looks of it, it played an area on shark that most people stay away from...the outside. Is the BA really that strong?

It can be, yes. The coverstock on the BA is the most versatile I have seen from Lane Masters. So if your going to see med heavy to heavy oil, use the sheen finish and it should do fine. I have mine highly polished for the house shot we have locally and it has a beast of a back end.

I would suggest discussing with Tony or Galen @ Lane Masters for suggestions.

XD now at 4K abralon ... LOVING it BUT it NEEDS oil, IMHO ... anything less than medium out there and you'd better bag it.

I agree with you Rob. This ball does need oil, but anything medium plus this is without a doubt the best ball I have thrown to date. It has a ball reaction that just really amazes me, it rolls strong and turns up very hard producing a mostrous backend that has extremely good carry. I can't put this thing down when there is oil out there.

It just hooks to much for med-kight volumes, to hard to control, but this was not its intended condition. This ball is considerably stronger than my Black pearl reactive, and very similar in strenth to my Conqueror but goes longer and turns alot harder on the back. Mine is also drilled 5 1/2 x 4 1/2, I couldn't imagine this thing drilled 4x4 or somthing on the strong side for ME. Anyone wanting to try out a LM ball this is the one you should be doing it with.

My luck I found a used Extreme damage with the EXACT same layotu as mine, as you would wonder, I DEFINITLY picked it up.

I scuffed my Xtreme Damage with the red pad, due to the over/under I've been getting.  It's drilled 4 / 4, with pin above ring finger.  I've been using it for the past two weeks and it's paid for itself four times over.  In any case, compared to the Black Diamond, it goes a little longer with a stronger finish in the backend.

Pins explode and it reminds me of my old Yeah Baby.  Last night, shot 300 playing outside, never moving.  I get nice length with a strong roll to the pocket, pins explode with messengers.

Hope this is the first of many!
