Buzz vs BPR
« on: September 22, 2009, 11:56:37 PM »
Hi at all
i'm fall in love with my buzz (on correct condition) but it's impossible to find another one nib, my question is : The Black Pearl Reactive can be a good sostitute of that ball? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I had a couple of Buzzes and loved them. I have not tried the BPR because the reviews indicate it is not suitable for me. 2 friends with very different releases showed me a ball that was very dependent on hitting serious dry, before reacting.  When it does react, it goes long and breaks hard. The Buzz seems a  more reliable, more consistent ball to me  on medium-light to medium oil. It doesn't go as long and doesn't hook as hard in the backend, but it hits like a Lanemasters, has plenty of backend and remains controllable at all
times.

I suppose the BPR could drilled in such a way as to come close to the Buzz's consistency, but you'd have to work with your driller to do that. Maybe a Rico-Drilling would do the trick, but I am not certain.

My observations of the 2 are different from charlest. I have owned a Buzz that i really like, now i own a BPR that i REALLY like. Both were drilled basically identical.

Without question the BPR is stronger in every aspect, it can handle more oil for one, and it has a harder backend on any condition that the 2 can be thrown on. When on alittle to much oil the Buzz would skate past the break point to  easily. One reason being it doesn't flare near as much as the BPR

The Buzz was an awesome medium- to medium-klight oil pattern. The BPR is better for mediums on up. Med-heavy is its forte. They would compliment each other in my opinion.

You could potentially go with a World Class Particle Pearl, just shine it up a bit more and have a weaker drill on it.  It would appear that LM is moving away from lower differential balls, so a true substitute would be challenging to find.

Sorry, Pat, but
he has no 15s. I tried to order one 3 months ago. He gave me a refund saying they were discontinued. You'd have to check about 14s and 16s. I don't know if he stocks them or orders them directly from Lanemasters.
