my question is this, what is the real difference between high fine sanded finishes and polished, as far as reaction type.

If you got a 4000 abralon sanded dull ball... and a 2000 abralon sanded ball polished, whats the difference really?

Can we just use 4000 abralon on solids, such as a Terminator, instead of OOB and get the same reaction?

Is there no skid flip, but rather a longer read, or more arc?

I guess what I am really asking is... Can there be an advantage to a fine high sanded abralon finish, vs a polished finish for length and reaction shape?

Shouldn't a higher abralon finish benefit and roll better than polished finishes with low grit?

Ball with and without polish can make a huge difference in ball recation and its ability to handle oil, especially in buffed areas. While 4.000 Abralon is not really dull (IMHO rather sheen, even shiny) it reacts still smoother than a polished ball with a lower grit base, because the polish seals the ball surface and makes it skid on any oil it touches. It also makes the breakpoint reaction more "drastic" and will basically add length. Certain coverstsock properties might change this, but I'd say that your last sentence fits most of the time.

I wonder how 1500 wet sand on the Terminator with no polish, will roll vs. the OOB  finish?

And in your opinion, do you think the Terminator is a ball that needs to be polished to work well?

Duo partical might be a little to grabby in the front I would have to guess?

I set my Terminator up at 1000 grit polished, on 40 foot house shot i scored really well, but I wanted slightly earlier read.  235 258 234..

Ball went long and set up a little late and snapped hard.

so I went back to grey pad polished OOB finish.. lol

Its funny how I often find OOB finish perfect for me on most balls.. lol I guess the guys doing the math at LM L know what there doing when they assign a ball a certain finish.
