Lane Masters Clinic
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:59:49 PM »
Mr. Borden and the guys from Lane Masters are holding a clinic in my area. I was wondering if anyone else on this site has been to one of these. If so, how was it? was it helpful? etc. I've already signed up for it and I'm really looking forward to getting some top notch coaching.

I wish.  I just got my first LM ball today and I'm sorry I haven't been throwing LM for the past 4 months.  I would really value anything they'd have to say.

How much did you have to pay?

Well, everything they say on MyBowlingCoach.com is first rate -- just too brief (usually less than 3-4 minutes) and too generic.  I'd give anything to have those two days with Fred, Jeri, and Ron.

Well, not anything -- else I'd have a plane ticket, reservations at a local hotel, and be on the lane beside you soaking it up.
The Gathering 2014 is near.  July 25-27 in Winston Salem, NC @ Creekside lanes.

I attended the 2 day clinic held in my hometown of Rio Rancho, NM on March 29-30.  I would have to say that it was a very pleasant experience and they really know their stuff.  We had Fred Borden, Ron Hatfield and Jeri Edwards as the Big 3, also since it was held in The Millers home center we also had Mike Miller and Dana Miller-Mackie as additional coaches.

Continental Breakfast was served both days and included lunch as well.  The coaching staff even stayed an extra hour on sunday to give some extra coaching.  The classroom time was very short, thus allowing more on-lane time.

Seventeen days after this clinic in league play on April 16th, I managed to shoot scores of 229-300-279=808 with strikes from the 8th frame of game one thru the 9th frame of game 3 for 26 strikes-in-a-row and actually had a shot at back-to-back 300's if not for a 10-pin in the 10th frame of game 3.  I attribute this to their coaching, not just the physical changes they suggested, but primarily to the mental game.  Alot of people, including myself don't realize how important the mental game is and their teaching of "mental imagery".

Hope this helps,

I believe we only have enough people for Fred Borden and Jeri Edwards to come. All 3 won't be there.

Fred and Jeri will teach you more in two days than you will ever learn on your own.....I went to a clinic a couple of years ago and would go back if I had one near me.

The biggest thing that I hope they can help me fix is my mental game and staying behind the ball more (look at my mini clips). I feel as though I won't be able to elevate my game until these two things are worked on.

I went to a clinic last Aug. Best thing I every did for bowling. Coach Borden and crew are the best. We will be going this year for a Premier Clinic.  2 gold coach's for 6 guys. since last Aug I have bowled 1st 300/800, 1st 18 in a row that night to start. 2ea 299 games 17 straight weeks over ave to finish @ 222, 21 pin increase. 14 ea 700 series. Wish I did it sooner.  But you have to listen he knows more then your bowling buddies will ever, combined. Also member of MBC on line I use that a refresher, I suggest you also join after your class.

crash is right, you have to go there with a complete open mind to what they say.
the things you think are holding your game back are probably not what you think.
I went there thinking my release was to much around the ball, and in reality I was collapsing my hip at the release point,Fred got me fixed in about a day...no kidding.

Hoping for something semi-close to the Greater St Louis area in the not too distant future; I tried to get our lanes to sponsor them, but not enough interest yet in this area.

I have just finished the Lane Masters clinic and I must say that it was absolutely wonderful. Mr. Fred Borden and Ms. Edwards are top notch coaches and very nice people. I was giving some tools that should help me excel to the next level (given that I practice like I should). I will say this, while I think the clinic is helpful to bowlers of all skill levels, I feel as though the novice to intermediate level bowler will get the most out of the clinic. But, like they said, there's always something that we need to work on.
