What are the Lane Masters options?
-
Sure strike, Terminator Rebellion..the New Buzz Attack, XS Power.
-
In general, yes, the Terminator Rebellion or the XS Power are probably their best benchmark balls, with a slight tilt towards the Term Rebel.

it can vary depending on who the bowler is... A benchmark ball is generally a medium oil ball, and gives the bowler his/her best read of the lanes (i.e. whether to go to a ball that hooks more or less, or stick with that benchmark ball)

My Arsenal:
Bounty(4.5 x 4.75 Fresh 1000 Abralon)
Twisted Fury(5 x 4 500 Abralon + Reacta Shine)
Raw Hammer Pain(Leverage 1000 Abralon)
Blue Vibe(5 x 5 4000 Abralon + Reacta Shine)
-
Mine personally is The Buzz. Most people see it is a medium/medium-light ball but this is medium at the minimum for me. Always first out of the bag when trying to read the lanes.

I think the general definition of a benchmark ball is one that handles TRUE medium oil with a controlled ball path and a controlled overall ball reaction. It gets TRUE medium length (not long, not early). It has a medium arc-ing (not hockey stick, not skid/flip) breakpoint.
It can polished or matte finished. It can be a resin pearl, a particle pearl, a solid particle or solid resin. That makes no difference.
Your release can determine what ball you need as a benchmark because some releases cause many even balls to be flippy and other releases cause flippy balls to be more even reacting.
