Well i am actually in a good mood about picking a fine jewel tonight, my new Masterpiece is alreay punched and ready to be picked up

So tonight on a nice broken down head shot we have the MP weighing in at 15 lb 4 oz vs the Horizon weighing in at 15 lb 3 oz before drillings of course. Will see how these 2 heavy weights handle the pin crushing power i am going to unleash on the pins tonight. My knee feels good and i know i can rev it up tonight because i will have my legs, so i will get back to you by monday on how the showdown in Vegas comes out. I already have adrenaline rushing without even throwing the ball yet, i will be surprised if my backup stuff even gets out of the bag the lane 1 cobalt which so far is a 10 pin leaving machine hahahaha

Well Charlest is pretty smart guy the MP needed more oil i was not sure until throwing it in warmup and trying to use it a few frames last night. The mp is alot earlier and stronger than the horizon upfront, the horizon catches it in the backend but oil volume wise it a full step down. I would say Mp for me is about a good 5-6 boards stronger in box finish, but i could see the sanding lines on the MP and decided to sooth the ball out some.

I used a grey pad on it and followed it up with some brunswick high gloss polish right on top of it, this time on low speed to be safer and not smooth the ball out toally and over shine it. I will be using it again tuesday night since tomorrow Easter sunday i am a hostage of the wife and kid all day.

I ended up swinging a 2000 finish medium with carrydown drilled Dynothane Centrifugal Mass for the best results last night, i needed the duller ball to get through the oil for whatever reason it actually held up pretty wet last night even though a first shift bowled on it. Usually power pearls are my go to ball in this league, the horizon missed the break point 2 frames in a row so it was retired early and the MP was early in box and already going past the head pin by 40 feet so it was put away quick too.

Just a few comments to follow up on MrBowingNut's above 2 replies:

- With the box finish for most of Lanemasters particles balls (grey pad on top of a high gloss polish), the ball's need just the very lightest of shines to go siginificantly longer and handle less oil. I suspect they might need to be taken down to 400-600 before polish would be an advantage. (Now, I have not tried all their particles; just don't have that much money or time. )

- so far I have gotten very good results using finer grits,via sandpaper of Abralon pads. I took my New Standard, Big Kahuna and World Class down to 2000 grit each. The NS and BK reacted VERY well. Still can't find enough oil for the WC, but my efforts have been limited recently.

- I just took my MP down to 4000 grit to use on medium-light oil; 2000 grit was still too early. Initial testing with 4000 grit indicate good potential, but it needs more testing.
