Just a few comments to follow up on MrBowingNut's above 2 replies:
- With the box finish for most of Lanemasters particles balls (grey pad on top of a high gloss polish), the ball's need just the very lightest of shines to go siginificantly longer and handle less oil. I suspect they might need to be taken down to 400-600 before polish would be an advantage. (Now, I have not tried all their particles; just don't have that much money or time.
)
- so far I have gotten very good results using finer grits,via sandpaper of Abralon pads. I took my New Standard, Big Kahuna and World Class down to 2000 grit each. The NS and BK reacted VERY well. Still can't find enough oil for the WC, but my efforts have been limited recently.
- I just took my MP down to 4000 grit to use on medium-light oil; 2000 grit was still too early. Initial testing with 4000 grit indicate good potential, but it needs more testing.
