Big Bang on PBA Patterns
« on: May 22, 2008, 06:39:45 AM »
I would like to know what you all think would be the best pattern to use my Big Bang on? So far we have bowled on the Chameleon and I did not try the Big Bang.

The Big Bang goes long and has a very definitive move off the break.
It was too much to be consistent with on Viper.  Had to use my XS Power which rolls early and arch's the entire lane.
I will try my Big Bang tonight on the Cheeath Pattern.
I'm finding out that on most the PBA / Sport shot patterns, I can be more consistent with weaker equipment that is drilled strong.
My XS Power has a 2 inch pin under the ring finger with the CG kick out 2 inches from the mid-line.  Very controlled and moderate off the dry.

That is what I kindof assumed about this ball. But out of all the balls I have it has the lowest differential. I wondered about the cheetah pattern myself. Let me know how it fairs. One problem with my ball is it is drilled pin up, so it waits before it makes any move. Probably will end up being useless in this league, but hey I'll try it in practice at least.

Unless you've changed the surface OR you have very high ball speed, the BB is an oiler. If you play the Cheetah pattern the traditional way, on the dry, out by the 3/4 board, I can hardly imagine using a ball like the BB, no matter how high you put the pin, on the Cheetah pattern, UNLESS you have high ball speed or low revs.

The low RG differential, and, thus, the lower flare, allows it to conserve energy somewhat on oilier lanes. That results in a somewhat larger backend than many oilers. As previously stated, a lot of the result has to do with how you throw the ball, any changes you made to the surface and how you play the lanes.

Good Luck, of course.

Yep I see what you mean. I am going to have to just leave it at home. My Blue Vibe will probably be the ball for the Cheetah. It looks like that will be the ballk for most of those patterns.

Shot 265 first game last night on the Cheeath Pattern with my BIG BANG.  Then it was down hill.
192, 181, 175, 202, 188.
You really have to focus and stay in that zone.
Next week it on the TOC 50 foot flat pattern.
Should be interesting . . .

Unless you see a way around it, the BB may be a great ball for the Cheetah pattern UNTIL transition happens. Then, a lot depends on how much oil they put down AND the lane surface.

May I suggest a strong resin solid for the first game, posisbly with a lower flare pin position? It may help with being better able to follow the transition. Another possiblity is a medium-strength pearl resin, sanded to 4000 grit this type of ball has great versatility, in general.

Good luck.

Thanks Charlest!
I have a XS Power at 1000 that rolls and arch's very controlled.
Never went to it, but I know I will have to use it next week.
