Changing to LM/ Legends
« on: June 15, 2007, 04:02:13 AM »
Well, time has come for me to change companies as I'm going to be getting QUITE a nice deal next season with the collegiate team I'm on.  I'd like replacements for what I currently have if you could help me out.

D/T Crisis Pearl
Columbia Action
D/T Thing Returns
D/T Vendetta Solid
D/T Vendetta 44 Magnum
Ebonite Total NV

Also have a terminator waiting to be drilled for me at the shop right now.

Thanks in advance.
Nick

Vendetta cores are VERY similiar to the cores used in the Black Pearl, New Standard and NS2; although the last two are not in production any longer, they are still available out there ... and the BP is readily available.

WELCOME !!!

I've seen a lot of success with the black pearl in my area so that's probably a sure one to go for there.  Just a little worried it goes longer than my 44 and solid with a much sharper break.

What about the others especially the action.  Love how mine rolls but it soaks up oil bad and is a constant water ball (hot water bath).

I haven't thrown some of your balls, but I do know something of them. I'll give you my best guesses.

D/T Crisis Pearl -> Hornet
Columbia Action -> NS2 (roughly; might need to smooth out the NS2's surface slightly)
D/T Thing Returns -> Buzz
Ebonite Total NV -> World Class Reactive.
D/T Vendetta Solid
D/T Vendetta 44 Magnum
-> these last two don't have anything directly proportionate in their current line-up. The Big Kahuna was probably closest overall to the VS.
A lightly sanded  WCR or BRB might be close to the 44 Magnum, but that's just a wild guess.

Shape is similar BUT the differential in the NS series seems to produce more flare and more backend with  the NS and NS2 than with the Vendettas. I've polished the NS2 up a bit and the backend is HUGE. PLUS their being particle balls, they often require too much oil compared to the Vendettas. I believe the NS and NS2 require at least a notch more oil than the Vendetta solid and 44 Magnum. That's why I didn't think they were equivalents. (I could be wrong; some may find them to be roughly equivalent. I have not compared them directly.)

Thanks for the help.  Definitely a good stepping stone as to what to get to replace which balls.  So far my thoughts about what may replace what i have are fairly accurate.  Just wanted to get opinions from people that have used more of the Lane masters equipment.  I've seen a few people roll the NS2 and was not impressed with the oil handling capabilities though I guess my Action isnt really an oiler either.  The particle load may be what I'm looking for instead of the action.  To give a little better idea, right now my 44 magnum is my smooth rolling med-oil ball.  My Black Vendetta is my hooking ball.  I know that may not make much sense but this ball out-hooks my action probably 5-8 boards on all conditions including a decent amount of oil.

Thanks again,
nick

I have thrown the 44 Magnum, Vendetta Black Solid, Thing Returns, NS, and NS2.  I was not impressed with the Vendetta Solid, but the other four balls are simply amazing.  Given the same drilling and coverstock prep, the 44 Magnum will fit in between the New Standard and NS2.  The NS2 can be used on heavy oil with a dulled coverstock
