I believe that I know why you're unhappy with it; I had an extensive chat with Joe at AllStarBowling yesterday about the layout of the BRB that he's gonna drill up for me and he stated that a stacked leverage layout, which maximizes the flare potential of a ball, would cause this ball to hit weak on the backends becuase it would have essentially "burned up" and lost it's energy going into the pocket.
FYI, Galen Gentry recommended to me a 4 x 4 layout with the pin above the fingers and the cg ending up around the midline (almost a label layout); however, the 3 1/2" pin that I chose didn't allow that layout becuasee the cg ended up in the thumb quadrant, so Joe recommended a 3 x 4 layout for it. I'll be getting back with Galen to get his thoughts on it and to get a new recommendation.
I'm not sure if a balance hole for your ball will be enough to change the ball's reaction, but I'd check with you pro shop and see what he thinks about it; it sounds as if you need to tone down the early reaction of your BRB ... maybe something that will give it some more "push" down the lanes, tighten up those flare rings, and save the reaction for the backend.
BTW ... don't feel too bad about it; soemtimes we just choose a bad layout that doesn't match up with our style and the ball's potential ... I've had 2 or 3 of those myself and simply sold the ball and tried again with a different layout.

I think most understand what is meant by a "stacked leverage" drilling. It is normally the strongest reacting drilling you can put on a ball.

In the same house on the same conditions that Anne Marie is in I find the same thing with my World Class R drilled 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 with Pin beside RF and CG just a wee bit below mid-line and a weight hole.

Pat, after struggling big time the last two plus years with balls that have assymetric cores with strong MB's regardless of the drilling and surface prep, I have found a home with the Legends/Lanemasters balls and their symetrical cores along with the covers that are used on them. I have also found these balls to hit harder, carry better and leaving way less 10 pins than the past balls I have been using from other companies with both symetrical and assymetrical cores. This is the way it has worked for me. I can't speak for others.

That's exactly why I went to Lanemasters...I had no success with Assymetrical cores. I found more success with symetrical cores...I haven't thrown LL much, but I like I what I see.

Back to your comments about this ball reacting too early ... the BRB was designed, like the Big Bang and the KONG, to go LONG and turn STRONG; a stacked leverage layout, in MOST cases, is NOT a complimentary layout for this ball; that drilling is used to maximize flare potential and tends to take away from the designed intent for and potential strength of this ball's core and coverstock combination. I have spoke extensively with Galen, as well as many other ball drillers and ball testers, and I believe that they concur with this assessment.
Remember roomies ... to truly maximize a ball's potential requires proper thought, thorough knowledge of your game and the conditions that you will encounter, as well as the selection of a layout that matches up to your style, to the ball's designed strengths and potential, and using said ball on the proper conditions (IE - Don't bring a knife to a gun fight and don't use a wrench to hammer a nail) !!!
