Black Diamond
« on: June 21, 2009, 01:19:32 AM »
I drilled my Black Diamond up on Thursday at Nationals but could not throw it until yesterday.  It does everything that Lane Masters says it will. The ball is similar to the Black Pearl but it is stronger at the break point and has an excellent continuation through the pin deck.  The Black Diamond definitely needs a fair amount of oil or a lot of speed.  I had to tone my ball down with a 2000 Abralon pad which I applied by hand and that seemed to work for me much better than the out of box finish.

It will be interesting to see what else they come up after Bowl Expo this week.  Hopefully they will be able to keep up with the demands they will have in a timely manner.  The new equipment that they have coming out seems to fill just about every hole in a bowlers arsenal.

I personally think it may be a wise investment to stock up on Black Pearls which has been their best ball ever just in case they decide to discontinue it also.

The Solid Strike IS a reactive pearl. Lane Masters changed the original cover stock from a solid to reactive, filling the slot previously occupied by the Sure Strike. (per the 2009/2010 catalog). Ken

I know Tony sent out another email yesterday about Bowl Expo and the I-Tack Cleaner. Did anyone see that? He's on his way to Vegas and I didn't get a copy to post here for you. If anyone has it please post on line here. Thanks

Sorry,

Would've got pictures uploaded yesterday, but was bowling a tourney in Vegas.

Here are the pictures I promised, Kent Wagner at the Lane Masters booth in Vegas drilled it up:

BLACK DIAMOND #0060 (3.0" PIN BELOW RF, 60* X 4 X 65*, WH 1/2 PAsT VAL, 1 1/2" BELOW MIDLINE)

I have another one I picked up but won't drill until I get back home from vacation, most likely will drill it with the pin up.

Hey Pat,it looks like you already put that ball in a ball spinner. If you you have, what abrasive did you use?

The finish on the ball is box condition.
