Loss of traction on Lanemaster Balls

Hi, I have loved my Lanemaster balls. I won a tournament a couple of years ago with my Terminator. I also qualified with the Buzz in a tournament in Las Vegas last year but when I came back this year, the ball would just not hook the same although I seldom use it in league as I was trying to preserve it. I had the same issue with the World Class Particle Pearl. It was great when it was new but after about 45 games, it would not hook the same way. I was thinking that since Lanemaster balls have no filler then ball death will take longer. This is a first-hand experience and I would just like to know if anyone has similar experiences. I clean the balls after every outing and I have a spinner so I can adjust the surface when needed. Please let me know.

Nothing, especially a Lanemaster's, should have a serious drop off in 45 games.  Are you sure the pattern wasn't different, or maybe you were throwing it different the second time?  A little too much speed or increase in axis rotation can make a pattern seem longer than it is.  Did you have a trusted non Lanemaster ball to compare the reaction to?  I wouldn't expect an improvement after 45 games, but a de-oiling couldn't hurt.  Maybe there's just a slight glaze on the surface.  A quick touch up on the surface couldn't hurt.

Thanks, Strider. I would also appreciate hearing from people who have the same balls, Buzz, WCPP, Terminator and if they can share their experiences after 45 or more games.

I can say that my Buzz after 150 or so games doesn't hook any more or less than when it did when it first left my hand . . . . when I roll it correctly.  I do clean it after every set, and wipe it off between shots, and I've refreshed the surface a couple of times.  But balldeath?  Not even close.

I had a Terminator that I threw pretty consistently for two years and a Buzz that I used three nights a week for a season...both kept performing throughout.  I cleaned 'em after every set and threw 'em the dishwasher every so often.  I would also touch up the surface occassionally hitting the Terminator with a gray or green scotchbright, and polishing the Buzz with Ebonite's Factory Finish.

It's been my experience that every Lanemasters ball I've owned (and it's been a lot) maintained its hooking and hitting power until I sold it, save one...the Guaranteed.  Probably my fault for adjusting the surface, but I was never able to get that ball to perform like it did OOB no matter what I did to the surface.

i got the xspower and bps, at the beginning i actually hated both balls, xspower never hooked and bps hook at lot in the middle and was flat at the backend.

then when my style changed, the xspower was the strongest ball in my arsenal of 15+ balls and bps was a good complemental.

i really dont see anything less from both balls

Rockbowler, I think Strider is likely correct. If you hardly ever throw the balls, the oil may have set up in the pores on the surface blocking some of lane oil from soaking into the ball when you use it now.

You might want to try the de-oiling process.  I was surprised when I did that to my Black Pearl on the amont of oil that was removed even though I bowled with the ball in most of my leagues last season.  I then went to Nationals and bowled well with no loss of hit or carrying power (once  I got lined up properly).  After you have tried the de-oiling process, then use some of Lane Masters new ITAC cleaner which they say gives back the tackiness and original hitting power.

I HAVE 3 TERMANATORS.A BL PRL PART.WRLD CL PP,BUZZ ATTACK.A TERM REB,WRLD CLSS BL,.MY ONE TERMANATOR HAS WAY OVER 200 GAMES.FROM ME AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY BEFORE I GOT IT FROM PRO SHOP OWNER.THE BALL HOOKS MORE NOW THAN WHEN I HAD IT AT FIRST.MY BUZZ ATTACK HAS 60 GAMES THIS MONTH AND IT IS STRONGER.AS LONG AS YOU CLEAN THEM WHEN YOU ARE DONE BOWLING IF YOU BOWL 6 GAMES A WEEK I WHOULD SAY YOU SHOULD GET A SEASON OUT OF THEM.THE BEST CLEANER IS LANE MASTER CLEANER BY FAR.I HAVE ALWAYS USED 50%SIMPLE GREEN AND 50% ALCOHOL AND THEN MIX THOSE TO WITH 50%LANE MASTER CLEANER.JUST WET THE TOWEL A LITTLE AND WIPE OFF.I WILL CLEAN EVER THING BELT MARKS PIN PLASTIC AND THE ALCOHOL WILL HELP IT DRY FAST.
