« on: October 22, 2006, 02:55:07 PM »
Anyone know, What is the grit of the PB...I'm going to take the polish off, and try it at 2000 grit Abralon on my Sport Shot League....I prefer no polish....

thanks....

I have a NS undrilled.

Seriously, the BP will react like the NS at 2000 grit Abralon?

Thanks for the info.

I took the BP up to 4000 grit Abralon for my Sport league tonight.
No polish.
It will be interesting to see how it reacts.

4000 grit w/o polish ball was way to strong.
I'm just converting over to no grips...I think with grips the ball would have worked better...I'm having a hard time adjusting to bowling "bareback".
I kept the ball at 4000 and put a coat of polish on it today...see what happens?

The Straight Flush is another (later) post.

Duke,
FYI ... if you check my profile, my Big Bang and my Terminator are BOTH at 4000 grit abralon and polished; both were too strong OOB to use (I almost got rid of the BB until I saw the post about polishing it, and now it's great. My Black Pearl is very strong on the backends too, and I need medium oil at the VERY LEAST to be able to use it.

Robb,
It's one of the stronger balls I've rolled in awhile.

I'm going out tomorrow, to a center that has some decent oil, and see what the ball does.

After reading the BTM review on this ball, I am now a bit leery of it and may back off getting one. Right now I have an Absolute Inferno (which I like) that fits between my World Class R and World Class P. I was wanting to change to all L/LM balls because these balls seem to work so well for me and I love their hit and carry, but just basing on the BTM numbers and the L/LM charts, I fear this ball may be too strong and too close to the World Class P for that position.
Am I wrong here in my thinking? I'm open to others thoughts on this.

It's probably at least as strong as the WC, but its path to the pocket will be different.  It seems so far to be very much a control type of ball.

Duke,
I agree !!! Had a 758 with mine tonight ... 290 the first game, and a 4 pin in the first cost me a "3".

Jim,
I concur with Charlest ... a control-type ball, albeit a strong one; the pearl cover gives it good length and the light particle load gives it "teeth" for the backends ... this ball "almost" seems to act like a reactive for me.

I LOVE THIS BALL !!!

Thanks guys. I wanted to say that it looked as strong as the WC, but I was afraid I might be wrong. My Absolute covers a wide area between the WCP and the WCR and is very versatile, but the pin carry isn't near as good as the WCP & WCR is. That is why I was looking at the Black Pearl to replace it with.

Then again, Galen told me the Black Pearl is very versatile. I do know that in instances like today on the Synthetic lanes, I was needing a bit more length on the WCP. I tried the WCR and of coarse it got good length and the length I like, but wasn't strong enough on the back end on those synthetic lanes. The Absolute Inferno was in between the two balls in length and seemed to come into the pocket strong, but would not carry a 10 Pin no matter what angle I played or what speed I threw. (I had the same problem with the AI Sunday on wood lanes whereas both L/LM balls seemed to strike at will) Maybe a ball like the Black Pearl would have worked if it would have gotten close to the length of the  WCR as I am sure it would have turned the corner on the back end where the WCR wouldn't. I need to "knock on wood" when I say this, but for what ever reason, I seem to leave very-very few 10 pins plus get way more strikes with L/LM balls.
