« on: October 22, 2006, 02:55:07 PM »
Anyone know, What is the grit of the PB...I'm going to take the polish off, and try it at 2000 grit Abralon on my Sport Shot League....I prefer no polish....

thanks....

Jim,
Get that "matched up" layout on it that I'm  always referring to and I swear that you'll fall in love with it as I have !!!

I bowled at Bowling Green Sport Center in West Chicago, yesterday.
Started at about 2 pm, shot 7 games with the Black Pearl (4000 grit/polished), nice medium oil, easy lefty shot. (I'm still getting used to no grips.)

Shot 239-229-225-245-219-268-209.

I've never rolled a ball that carried the 7 pin like the BP...My bowling buddy, who I've bowled with for 15 years or so, was very impressed with the ball, and hard it hit.

I met up with Chitown, at about 8 pm...and bowled on the left end of the house, after 2 leagues, bowled. (Chi cleaned my clock using his Raw Doom.)
I had the BP and the StrFlsh with me...I was caught in between.

I tried the BP for 3-4 games. There just wasn't enough oil lwft on the lanes for the ball.
I ended up using the SF outside 5, and averaged 189 for 10 games.

The BP definitely needs oil...anyone who rolls one knows, that by now.

So, DUke, you were able to use it on "medium" oil?
Maybe there's hope for me yet ... (I figured it was an oiler.)

Yup ... as I stated previously, a MINIMUM of medium oil is required to use it.
BTW, BTM this month has a review for the BRB and the Black Pearl ...

It was a medium oil shot. So far I haven't had much luck on drier conditions.
I'm trying it tonight, on a beat-up house shot...plus my Straight Flush which is now 500 grit with 2 coats of polish. SF is a good spare ball so far on oilier conditions.

Duke,
IMHO and FWIW, I believe that The BUZZ is better suited for a "beat up house shot" OR an Absolute Power (the AP is what I use for those conditions - see profile). I say this because I think that the BP will be too strong for that condition ... let us know how you fare, OK ???

Robb,
Bingo!
Last night I tried the BP in my Thursday league.
Lots of carrydown dry outsides...miss outside it's through the nose.
We have a lot of 5 pin splits on the non-condition they give us. Last night I counted 18 splits with the 5 pin (5-7, 5-10, 5-8-10), for 10 bowlers, 3 games...I leave s many 5-10s on this shot, tha I'm at about 85% picking the spare....

Anyhow the BP burnt up on the shot, the Straight Flush was fine unless it hit carrydown and would skid...I tried my track Equation, which hooked early...

I shot 166-166-197...197 with a VOIT houseball I picked off the rack and threw straight at the pocket.

I'm picking up my New Standard, NS2, and Big Kahuna next Wednesday...don't know if they will handle the non-shot and better.

Duke,
Please provide insights and feedback on the NS and NS2 ... same core as the Black Pearl, different covers.
