Free Big R Bang
« on: October 25, 2006, 05:59:52 PM »
If you can find the land fill that my Big R Bang went to.. somewhere in SoCal.. its yours free of charge.

I have never actually bowled with a ball for 6 games and tossed it in the trash but this ball was absolutly worthless.... no matter how I prep'd the ball it started hooking at the arrows and wasting energy, absolutly a piece of garbage.

I never owned a pearl or polished ball that could not make it 12 feet before grabbing..

My Terminator actually rolled very well on the same condition.

What a mistake of a ball.... its nothing like the Original Big Bang... not even close

"HoG",
That was a pretty ignorant thing to do, my man (if you are serious and really did just throw it away)... sounds to me is if the layout wasn't suitable and didn't match up for you; the ball is/was fine ... just wasn't drilled properly to maximize the strengths of the ball.
BTW, next time, post a thread and try to sell it !!!

However, even though Buddies (simply a one man opinion and not everyone's opinion) didn't rate it that high,  I agree with Robb that the layout must have been wrong or else you were throwing it on the wrong conditions. Especially if it started hooking at the arrows.

If you want a really strong reactive it is good ball, not even close to the advertised reaction. It is early rolling big sweeping arc even with surface prep changes, i would have went too 4000 and then polish before getting rid of it. I dont think you really threw it away so why not change it one more time or two???

Hand of God..lol..You sound like me when I first tried the World Class, New Standard 2 and Masterpeice. I was at the oppisite end though, no hook at all !

Then I picked up a Big bang from Rob...OMG that ball hooked ! Hooked way to much for my release, lol

So I sold them all...

I agree with Barry on this one. I thought the same thing as he said, but just couldn't muster up the courage to say it.

Ball could not make 10 feet before reacting ... in OOB and 2000 grit polished.
I know a dud when I see one and this by far was the biggest dud ever made...

Problem is, I can't understand why... then i saw the Big Bang is Super Cabon partical, and the Big R Bang is evolution ... so its not the same material minus the partical... this is a form of coverstock that is on the Terminator...

I rolled my Terminator at the same time on the same line as the Bir R Bang during league and it rolled through the heads with ease.

I would never sell or give this ball away, because I would not want to burden anyone with this failure.... I dont know why it didn't roll for sh|t, but sometimes a ball is a blem on the inside and that's all there is to it.

"HoG",
This will be my final thread in reply to this post; although I have no doubt concerning your abilities on the lanes, IMHO your reactions and rants regarding this ball are foolish, close-minded, and a bit immature.

Based upon my own personal experience with this equipment line, as well as the experience of others and their posted reviews/comments, the balls are FINE ... with layouts that "suit and match up" to the bowler, with the proer coverstock/surface, and when they're selected for the proper conditions; I've had a few "L/LM" ball that I didn't care for, BUT ... in most cases it was a layout issue, and I had at least a couple that I was ready to sell/"throw away" until I found the proper surface adjustment and/or a balance hole for them. Also, most of the one's that I had selected poor matchup layouts for I sold, purchased another, and tried another layout and/or surface and was pleased !!!

Back to your comments about this ball reacting too early ... the BRB was designed, like the Big Bang and the KONG, to go LONG and turn STRONG; a stacked leverage layout, in MOST cases, is NOT a complimentary layout for this ball; that drilling is used to maximize flare potential and tends to take away from the designed intent for and potential strength of this ball's core and coverstock combination. I have spoke extensively with Galen, as well as many other ball drillers and ball testers, and I believe that they concur with this assessment.

IHMO ... FWIW, I believe that you need to swallow your pride, use this experience with the BRB as a learning tool for the future, and admit (at least to yourself) that your decision to lay this ball out that way was a error in judgement.

Remember roomies ... to truly maximize a ball's potential requires proper thought, thorough knowledge of your game and the conditions that you will encounter, as well as the  selection of a layout that matches up to your style, to the ball's designed strengths and potential, and using said ball on the proper conditions (IE - Don't bring a knife to a gun fight and don't use a wrench to hammer a nail) !!!

Robb i disagree with you somewhat the layout i have is my best layout on my more recent stuff, remember i drill most every brand and ball made this layout 4 1/2 x 4 pin under ring has become my standard drilling again. I went to pin over ring finger with no weight holes for awhile but came back to my old favorite again recently. The ball oob is a big POS hooked at the arrows and was pooping out by the backend, it is surface management with these newer hi performance balls no matter what brand they are. I can tell you the BRB is another Masterpiece/Kong fiasco were the ball is either weaker or way stronger than advertised, i think they miss the boat in there R&D department in stockton sometimes.

I am not saying the ball is not good for the right pattern but the advertising is not even close on this ball too what it does reaction wise. Plus the HOG is right the resin base is different so you will not get close to the same reaction using a weaker version because it is not the same cover in the first place. It took me about 4 times too get the Masterpiece to be somewhat useable but i really do not love that ball either compared too the rest of the product lineup. Early reports were the World Class was skiddy for some bowlers on here but for oob the ball has been a winner from the get go. So yes layouts for some guys would be the answer but for me who prefers more favortie layouts, surface changes are more the correct answer to this mystery ball.

I'm with Robb on this one. I think it is great that Pat has begun checking in and commenting. I would like to see Pat do this as often as he can find time and offer his knowledge and expertise. Would help all of us, I'm sure. I know it would me.

I don't have the Big R Bang and probably won't get one since I already have both the World Class Particle and World Class Reactive. I am currently looking at the Black Pearl to fit in between my WCP and WCR.
