I was practicing this morning, and a bowler in my Monday league gave me a 14lb Black Pearl for free. I throw 15# equipment, but I couldn't pass up a free ball. I've wanted to try a Legends/Lane Master, and now I have my opportunity. The ball has approx. a 2" pin, and I don't know the top weight. I intend to use this ball on a medium volume THS. I typically play the track area. My PAP is 4-1/2" x 3/8". Ball speed is 16.5 MPH and 325 rpm. I am thinking of a 4 or 4-1/4" pin-PAP, pin up, with the CG out 45 degrees. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Are you going to plug the ball for a complete redrill or just move the thumb to make it fit? Without watching you bowl,I can't tell you if the layout on the ball is right for you. You should have a good driller check your game out and reccommend.

Man, I wish I had friends like that.....

4 1/4 - 4 1/2 pin under fingers cg tucked no weight hole, this ball will flat out move on THS it will need no help getting started. I have one and had one used against me last night the guy threw like A__ and stil shot 605 at me scratch.
I will be bringing it out this week for use at my easy house, it lets you boom the ball if needed for me the backend is huge with a 4 1/2 pin to pap and no weight hole pin down drilling.

Good Afternoon,
My Black Pearl is drill 4.25 x 3.25 from PAP, pin about one inch below the ring finger. PAP is @ 5.25 over and .5 up. I find the ball makes a strong arcing move starting about midlane on the standard house shot towards the pocket (right handed) and doesn't quit. Generally stand 20 throwing out to 9/8, speed dominant (thus the low pin position). I really like this ball's reaction for THS.

May I suggest two things:
1. Since we don't know how different the RG and Diff is for 14 lb vs 15 lb vs 16 lb Black Pearls, You estimation is as good a starting point as any given that it's a 14 lb and that it's a Black Pearl.
and,
2. If you're really worried, (and I don't usually recommend this), call the Lanemasters experts, give them the details and get their recommendation.
PS I usually don't recommend call the Lanemasters people only because, for the 99% case, a ball park estimate will suffice for drillings. You do not need precise measurements (although we all feel better when we get them; it makes us think we're being exact.). Small differences do not make significant ball reaction differences, in the 99% case.
