I'm not sure how the Black Diamond is factory finished. but I ask Galen once how to bring my BP back to original. Use a grey pad, then Lane Masters factory finish over that. Once polished to about 1500 grit finish, lightly go over the surface with a white pad. I suspect the Black Diamond is similar.

I do not know what anything about the Black pearl. My Black Diamond though is highly polished in its box finish, i am assuming grey pad and heavy coat of LM polish

I want to smooth out the backend reaction and get an earlier midlane read on my BD. How would taking the surface down to 2000 with a dull finish work in your opinion?

Thanks

That will smooth it out for sure. I have mine @ 4000 for the same reason. 2000 would require more oil in the heads than I see locally.

This is were it can confuse people, including myself. You say polish up to 1500, well if we are talking Lane Master polish, I thought it was a non abrasive polish, so how could that take it to 1500 from whatever it was before polish.

Anyone care to enlighten me, charlest, Tony???
