Over all nice arsenal answer
« on: October 13, 2006, 07:35:46 PM »
Some one asked what a great three ball combo would be from Lane masters and Legends... and I believe I have a good answer

Terminator  -  heavy-heavy mediums, and carry down - medium load partical
Black Peral  -  True medium and fresh house shots - light load partical
Buzz - medium to light broken down back ends - reactive resin

thoughts?

--------------------
Balls for this winter season:

Terminator - Stacked - Heavy to medium oil
Big Bang - Stacked - Medium oil
Buzz - 1:30 Label - Medium to light oil
XXXL - Stacked -  Spare ball

Big R Bang - Coming soon!

And if you don't include any particle balls?

What would the arsenal be then?

lillen... if you throw LM/L your gonna throw partical in at least one ball... and the Terminator is my choice for heavy-heavy medium oil ball..... anything else like mediu or light oil you can get away with resin...

Buzz for medium light - resin
Black peral is only a light load which gives you traction on medium fresh patterns...

so... dont be afraid of partical... i used to be... and i was dumb back then too.

Would the Original WC be a good ball for medium oiled lanes?

If your ball speed is high with respect to your rev rate, or if you have medium speed with very low rev rate, or if ______,then you could use it for medium oil;
otherwise it's for medium-heavy oil at a minimum.

I just asked because I was curious about non-particle balls..

No need to actually measure it.  This is more of a feel type of thing. If you rev your ball as much as others do but it hooks a lot less or you often throw it thru the breakpoint or you seem to have to use much rougher or duller surfaces than others do, and you don't throw a spinner, more than likely you throw throw the ball faster than your rev rate. There are rough tables of what the ball speed and rev rate should be for crankers, tweeners and strokers.
CRANKERS: 400+ AND 18-19 MPH
TWEENERS: 250 - 450, 16-18 mph
STrokers: less than 250/275, 14-16 mph
all very rough. but there's lots of overlap because people are different.

I used to have tweeners revs of about 300 and stroker ball speed of about 15. This made me use balls more like a crankers, because my rev rate was too high for my ball speed. The ball would have like 5 extra feet to hook in because I threw it too slow. If I had stroker revs, say 225 and threw the ball at 17 mph, I'd have to use either dstrong drills, like leverage to get a lot of flare or use rougher surface balls, like take a 1500 grit polished pearl down to 1000 grit to use it on the same surface that someone with the right proportion of revs to speed coudl it polished.
