Funny you should raise that question, Robb. It's one of the next set of items on my own agenda. I wanted to "mild" the ball down a bit, because it hooks so darned much, even with the length drilling I put on mine.  I'm not sure if I'm going to sand it to 4000 Abralon and polish it or just dose it with Delayed Reaction. The stock surface, 800 grit (US) + polish, just hooks too much.

Thanx, Jeff ... I have STORM Step 3 on mine, and still looking for something that I can trust after my BP and BPR are too strong.

Anyone else ???

Robb,

The problem with Step 3 is, in my eyes, it's an abrasive compound and you might not know exactly where you've taken the ball. While I like Storm's polishes a lot, when I am experimenting, as with this ball, I'd like to know where I am, in case I need/want to go up or down from there.
(But, then, that's just my little twisted bit of "heaven".)

Understand ... wanted to try something different, and since I normally stick to Legends products, this was a "shot in the dark". Not happy with it yet ... maybe 4K abralon and polished ???

Depends on Drilling. SS is "barely" a ball for lighter oils. I have mone pin above the center of the bridge and CG slightly kicked out from grip center and it still hooks a TON on medium light oil.

Although this ball is for lots of length and with a strong backend ( I htink it actually competes with balls like the Virtual Gravity and the Rapid Fire Pearl), it does notlike light oil (unless you have LOTS of ball speed or lower revs).

Lanemasters staff spent lots of time developing this beauty especially due to its use of filler between core and coverstock. They tested many fillers to insure they maintained the Coefficient of Restitution of the solid coverstock  (no filler) Lanemasters balls. Indeed, I think they exceeded the hitting power of several of the solid coverstock balls with the Sure Strike.

Amazing Ball!

That thing must hook about 35 boards on medium oil. That is one STRONG drilling for the SS. Small wonder you want to change the surface. Try 4000 grit Abralon + polish. Then, if that doesn't work, add Delayed Reaction.
