Big Bang... Hidden Jewel... Well I guess so...
« on: February 24, 2009, 04:35:47 AM »
I started my adventure with the BB right after it was released. It was a ball that I really wanted allot until I had it, bowled with it and hated it really never "felt" right. I found it to be very inconsistent and did not handle carry down for me at all. It is drilled pin over ring and CG in the stacked position. I am a low track bowler and would consider myself a "Tweener". My driller initially drilled the span a little too small so last year I had him fix it and I thought that it was going to fix all the issues. Along came league night and bam there they were again. I think some of it was me, but at the same time when I did feel like I threw a good shot it just never consistently gave me good results. I tried different surfaces, but never polished it, didn't want to make it jumpy and even harder to control. During my time owning this ball I tried it in different houses, different patterns, just hoping to find a home for it and nothing.

Well just the other day I started reading some reviews hoping that I could find something that would hint at a different way to drill it or something. Two of the reviews really caught me off guard with how much the loved this ball. Both of them talked about it needing enough head oil and I can attest to that. But one said his favorite is polished.

I hate to say it, but that is it. This ball was meant to be polished, just beautiful how well it has worked since then. It is consistent and with this core, when it gets to the point when it tips, you can really see it tip. Just hits the dry and goes. Typical LM carry and the smoother I am the smoother it is. Just a nice ball and will now probably not leave my bag again. It actually really complements my Black Pearl Reactive and Hammer Blue Vibe. Just a nice trio.

Well sorry about the long post, but I just wanted to point out that while a ball may not seem to fit. There is always something that can help it get the job done, just don't give up. We spend too much money on these balls to get them one day and leave them on the shelf the next.

I would invite you all to share your "dead" ball stories.

Yeah I have been very happy with this ball since I changed it's surface. BUt I think I need to find a different polish. I used Bean's Secret Sauce and it is tracking very quickly. I hear 3M makes a polish called Finesse IT or something, need to get my hands some of that and try it out. I have Ebonite's Factory Finish and Legends too. Might try them next, so we'll see.
