Cool feature on the new "L/LM" web site !!!
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:12:11 PM »
Just in case you haven't noticed or simply have not looked at this new web site in depth, you can now do ball comparisons of up to three "L/LM" balls at a time !!! How ??? The steps are listed below ...

- Go to "BALLS", then click on the first ball of your choice,
- When that screen comes up, go to the left side and click on "Back to Balls"
and select another ball of your choice from the rotating circles of balls by
clicking on that ball.
- When the first ball is select, you will see that ball's "Technical" stats on
the screen.
- Repeat this step again until you have the balls that you wish to compare;
again, up to a total of 3 balls may be compared. You'll notice that after the
second ball is selected, the screen will have changed from the "Technical"
ball stats to "Lane Diagram".
- When the "Lane Diagram" screen is, you'll see that it shows three different
color lines; they are color-coded & match the 3 balls that you have selected!
- The final option is on the left side of the lane; here you can fine-tune
those three ball's lane reaction by inputting (if known) your:
> Revs,
> Ball Speed,
> Hook Angle(Axis Rotation),
> Tilt(Axis Tilt), and
> Oil Volume.
If you don't know your personal stats, the figures will default to "generic" figures. I spoke to Galen about this feature and they plan on updating it to help users to understand how to get the proper Oil Volume figure.
As it stands right now, I'd say just input your known stats and "play" with the Oil Volume figures and watch how it affects the reaction shapes. If you don't know your "stats", just play around with the feature; I believe that this is still a great tool in this situation because you could possibility get a better understanding of how those various factor affect the ball's reaction and line "shape" on the lane.

HAVE FUN and enjoy the new Web site !!!

Robb,

I played around with it the other day for about an hour.
I noticed the biggest influence was increasing "revs".
If you increase oil volume to the max, most balls have pretty much the same reaction...which is pretty realistic. Why? Balls don't hook in heavy oil.
I wish they added pattern length to it.

Pretty cool.

Additional updates per my chat with Galen today:
1) If you'll notice there are three "circles" of balls ... Legends, Lane Masters, AND their "retired" balls; FYI, the RG and Diff info for the retired balls is a bit "off" ... they are aware of it and it'll be fixed soon.
2) They are also going to add info for helping bowlers that don't know their revs, speed, etc with a description of how to do that for yourself so as to better utilize this festure.

All of this being said, it's STILL a very cool web site, albeit with a few minor "bugs" that they plan on correcting ASAP. ENJOY !!!

This is a good feature and I played with it the other day.  I used the website, BTM and good knowledgeable BR users to formulate my opinion that the Big Bang would probably be the best ball for what I was looking for.  Oh and Freddy Borden helped also.  He knows my game a bit.

Thanks ALL!!!
