finally I got my buzz drilled for me.

It really didnt look too impressive when my friend threw it when it had around 6" pin (both high trackers)

so I decided to give it a chance and redrill it. it is now drilled around 4 1/2" pin to pap (pin above ring finger)

I dont give rave reviews or say it "hits like a truck" so I wont.

but what I will say is this is one of if not THE BEST ball ive ever owned!
does exactly what I remember the older balls did.

throw it in the dry and it turns left smoothly not jumpy.
make your mark and you can walk away as you know all 10 are going down.

pro shop guy still said this ball was junk.

missed 3 spares... struck every other shot... for a 231

not bad for the first game ever with a lanemasters ball.

The Buzz was okay for me on the right condition.  Mostly during transition, when the back ends really started to go.  It seemed then that once it hit the back someone kicked it when it made its turn.

I never had much success with it, because for me it was hella over under, but I have heard a lot of people say they love it.  I never used it much either though.

hmmm... thats funny as many other balls are over/under for me.

yet this one is perfect.

go figure.



FYI the ball was wet sanded on a spinner with scotch brite pads. taking it up to 800 grit no polish at all.

Makes sense why no/over under with this ball surface.

My Buzz is pin over ring 4.25 pin to PAP 80 deg. OOB surface and makes a decent snap but not the hard finish like a ball like a Vis. G-3 makes on semi-clean average backends.  Very readable for me.

yea the oob is 800 grit then lightly sanded with grey scotch brite to produce a "sheen"

definatly not polished.

love this ball as I seem to be able to find a line on a lot of lane conditions. even shot good on a house that I was using a SCB from lane #1. of course thats only because the right of 10 was drier then the inside was but still impressive.



I think this ball and other lanemasters are under rated as they just dont look anywhere near as impressive as the 'hook monsters' that other companies are putting out.

I told my driller I liked my buzz a lot. still said he doesnt like them even after expressing how well i bowled with it.

im just enjoying the predictability of the buzz. dont think this will be my last lanemasters ball.

If you're talking about the factory "sheen", then NO, as far as I know, this is not how they achieve it. (The Buzz does not come with a "sheen", but a "polish".

They sand it to 800 grit, put a high gloss polish on it with their polish; then they scuff it with the light grey nylon pad. That is the factory "sheen" process.

If you're talking about the "sheen" you put on the ball, then I can't say anything.

The Buzz comes from the factory, not with a sheen, but with a polish. 800 grit sanding, then a high gloss polish with their factory polish.

hmmmm thanks charlest.

I wonder why my driller simply resurfaced it to a grey pad?

it did seem to handle mediums a lot better then I thought it would.

Some people need that, but stock polished pearls like the Buzz will usually perform very similarly with 4000 grit matte finish, while handling carrydown slightly better. I've had pearls where I needed to sand them to 2000 grit.

But sanding it to 800 grit, basically makes it into another ball. It now REQUIRES much heavier oil to operate properly.In fact, unless it has a very weak drilling, I'd guess you now need true medium oil to make it work at all, IF HE HAS SANDED IT TOTALLY to 800 grit.

For my own personal Buzz, because I drilled it too flippy, (in case I hadn't mentioned this before, but I probably did) I re-sanded to 800 grit and then re-applied a lighter coating of their polish to make it hook slightly earlier, read the lane slightly earlier and make the backend less flippy and more controllable.

it looked as if he sanded it with a green pad then moved on to grey. (spraying each pad... with what i dont know) (guessing just water or a cleaner/water)

I didnt ask him to resurface it just to redrill it. but it looks like just about the same surface from when I bought it (ebay).


it just has me wondering if I should add polish or not... I do like the reaction im getting. (doesnt like the burned up lanes but then again its not meant for them... afraid if I polish it the entry angle will become sharper and it might go too long)


fyi- most lanes I play on are medium light all the way to horribly broken down. (looking to sell all my lane #1 stuff and stick with a 2 ball arsenal... thats why im not sure where i want the buzz's surface at as right now it covers a LOT of lane conditions)
