Need medium-dry ball for Super School
« on: June 04, 2008, 01:47:09 AM »
Hey guys, I need your opinions.  I'm attending Super School this year down at Eastern Lanes in Middletown, Ohio.  The info flyer for Super School says we'll be on wood lanes with a sport pattern and suggests bringing at least two different balls.  One for medium conditions and one for medium-dry conditions.  I figure my Terminator Rebellion will do fine in the medium stuff.  What about the medium-dry?  Hornet or Buzz?  I throw about 15-16mph with a low-medium rev rate.

I have the Terminator Rebellion and It is a nice ball, but don't over look the XS POWER.  It rolls early, but in a very smooth and controlled arch.  It has a moderate reaction off of the dry and this makes is perfect for sport shot type patterns.

This is killing me, because I have a NIB 15 lb World Class Reactive for sale, but the next step under the Term Rebellion is probably a weakly drilled Buzz or Sure Strike (less expensive). I say "weakly drilled" because if you drill them "normally" as you probably drilled your Rebellion, they'd overlap too much.

The WCR is a highly polished reactive to comapred to the duller Rebellion, but while the WCR will clear heads that might trip up the Rebellion, it is maybe 1/4 step below the Rebellion in overall performance and oil handling.

The WCR, Buzz and SS, with normall drillings have fairly large backends for the avg rev, avg ball speed bowler. That backend will be reduced for higher speed  bowlers, for lower rev bowler, and for bowlers with low tilt, high tracks. All3 have incredible pin moving powers.

if u rico the world class reactive it makes it smooth as butter. very very controllable for shorter oil or jumper patterns. as long as u have alittle head oil it will do fine. just my take on it seeing as i have experience

I was just about to suggest a weaker drill on a WCR being VERY smooth.

IMO a 5" p2p or even 6" if u want to go weaker, pin under, the ball will definitely not overlap a term rebellion.

True.

I didn't mention it, because while Rico smoothes out the reaction, it also makes it cover more boards, in general. I made the assumption, maybe not properly, that dfusnik might not want such a ball on a sport pattern. I could be wrong, but that was what I was thinking.

So, dfusnik, want to buy a WCR cheap so you can "Rico" it?
