I am starting to think that this ball will be very close to the original New Standard if the cover was 800 sheen although I am not sure what "molecular particle" is. I love my New Standard as it is still in my bag today. Looks like I will HAVE to jump on this one.

Basic 4th arrow ball on a house shot pattern. I'd guess definitely a ball for closer to heavy unless you are high speed and low revs.
BTW....vid shows 1000 sheen.

Regular release, or just overseas? Looks promising, though.

It's a new Legends ball! Excellent, and it's not red!

Yea, it's not exactly red. In person, the ball reminded me of the World Class Reactive, maybe with a bit more toward the red side of the color scale, but not by a lot.

Have you drilled one yet? I'd really like to get an idea on the LM line of current equipment where it fits?
Also I see Fred Borden's name on the Legends ball. I thought Fred was not involved with LM/L anymore?

No, have not drilled one yet. Fred is still involved with Lane Masters.
Day to day operations; Johnny Jones still runs it for the most part. Galen Gentry is still there too.
As for who is involved, the original group (Palmer Falgreen, Sam Baca, Fred Bordon among others), not as day to day management of the operation, but I'm sure they all have input on the product line.

Johny Jones used to be the owner. I had talked with him once on the phone about a few matters. (He's the one who told me that their cleaner was an industrial grade alcohol.) I thought some company from the Far East had bought them out after the problem with the shipping department a few years back. If he's still there, I guess the ownership has remained the same.

If Lane Masters/Legends were to have one person considered the owner, I think that would have to be Sam Baca as he founded the brand before they even made bowling balls(Legends Lane Oil, Cleaner etc). Johnny is one of the owners and the guy who has ran the day to day operation for several years now.

Milo,
I knew Legends Lane Oil existed before the ball making division set up shop. Didn't know who was owner or manager until I talked to Johny one day.

How does the High Standard coverstock compare to the Buzz Premium Edition coverstock?
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

Buzz does not compare. Buzz will be a light oil to med oil ball. The ball will need dry/friction to make a left turn. The Buzz will have its place on the lanes but it wont be in medium heavy to heavy oil. High Standard 2.0 should be a ball that can handle heavy oil and still make the turn. This ball is on my next to get list. (Santa can you hear me???)

I think he meant the Buzz Premium, not the old Buzz. The Buzz Premium is a lot stronger than the old Buzz and I think, stronger than it seems. Don't forget it's not only a solid/pearl combo, it also has a light load of particles!!
And I doubt if the High Standard with its stock "POLISHED" finish will handle true heavy oil. No polished ball can, even if it is a medium load LaneMasters ball, and I ove them as much as anyone. I still have my original New Standard. Now if you sand the high Standard, it might be able to handle heavier oil. Let's wait and see, though, before we decide what it can based on advertising. I'm sure Pat will tell us as he will probably get the first one drilled.

Sorry Charlest. I didnt mean to come across as I know it all. I read this from the bowlers journal. Here is what THEY said about the Buzz.
48 Hook 14.5 Length 14 Breakpoint Shape
Manufacturer’s Intent: “The Buzz Premium Edition is the fifth installment in our line of releases using this very successful core,” stated Galen Gentry of the Lane Masters design team. “The premium version of the Venom hybrid cover is our best match to date with the medium Diff symmetrical core of The Buzz, and was simply designed to work well from all angles for all types of players on medium to medium-heavy oil patterns. This is accomplished by the ball’s ability to level out the lane pattern by starting very smoothly with a great mid-lane read, resulting in a strong, controllable transition.”
Core Design: The fabled Buzz symmetric core shape is simplicity at its finest. Its low Diff value of .031 makes it release-friendly. The medium RG of 2.54 creates some early lope yet provides a very continuous hook motion.
Coverstock: Lane Masters has long been known for producing long-lasting, even-arcing coverstocks. The Venom hybrid upholds this tradition. Coloring is a light pearl blue with a 1200 matte finish. Oil traction was moderate, as was responsiveness off friction.
Test Results: The Buzz Premium Edition rolled great, carried great and rewarded us with vintage Lane Masters crack upon impact. The ball’s motion was smooth and slow. It definitely needed friction to create its hooking action. In heavier oil, the low-flaring core and weak cover never read the pattern soon enough. On light-mediums or drier, the Buzz was superb. We were never fooled with any over-reaction, regardless of release styles. Heavier-handed players will simply see more total hook but with the same smooth-arcing shape that lower rev rates produce.
When to Use: Use confidently when friction areas are present. The Buzz’s strengths are its smoothness and predictability. Players will be able to play near or in friction areas with little to no fear of early read. Stronger layouts will offer a touch more total hook but no change in motion shape. In fact, our 4-inch pin, 2 inches above the fingers, rolled very similarly to our 4-inch pin positioned below the fingers.

I think Jeff is correct the Buzz PE is stronger than what BTM rated it at though I don't own one. Pat P. has stated to me that it is stronger than the Buzz Attack that I recently drilled. Total hook ratings that BJI and BTM use are more based off of the OOB cover than anything. I would not go off of BTM or BJI total hook ratings it's an area where the ball might fall and nothing much more than that.
I tend to go more off of where a ball falls in a correct line -up from users like Pat P. who have used all of the line. jbungard also gave me a good idea of where the Buzz Attack fell along with Pat P. and they were correct in their assessments.

According to a source that is very much involved with Lane Masters the High Standard is the most hooking ball that they have manufactured.
Unfortunately for those of us who are speed challenged unless we drop the ball off of a 200 foot cliff, this may not be the best choice for us. A lot of times less is better for the masses. Very seldom do the bowling centers put down a THS pattern that is even close to heavy oil.
I am sure that Lane Masters has done their home work and manufactured a ball that will fill a gap where they may be lacking and as always their equipment does not take a back seat to any manufacturer.

Ok Scott, I see where your coming from. Maybe the new buzz is going to be stronger than the other buzz but I still find it very hard to believe that the buzz will compare with the High Standard 2.0. Just sayin.

Sorry about the TJ but this all falls into this topic in some way......
No way there are even in the same ball park! I agree.
See what Galen G. says in Joey's write-up...."stated Galen Gentry of the Lane Masters design team. “The premium version of the Venom hybrid cover is our best match to date with the medium Diff symmetrical core of The Buzz, and was simply designed to work well from all angles for all types of players on medium to medium-heavy oil patterns."
But Joey/BJI sees it differently in his ball review....BUT then Pat P. who has used all these balls stated to me before I drilled my Buzz Attack that the Buzz PE is stronger than what BTM reviewed it at and was over the Buzz Attack. BTM rated the Buzz PE as pretty much a medium maybe slightly below medium ball. That kind of agrees with what BJI said. Pat P. rates it higher.
I don't think I am letting the cat out of the bag here but this is how Pat P. rates the LM/L current line up.
I think this helps immensely though his opinion is based on his stats. and lane conditions used on but I tend to believe a fellow LM users that has used all the LM/L equipment. Reviews are just a place to start then you have to add in all these other factors.
Pat P. says...."I would rank the current line from Dry to Oil in this order:
Hornet
Ultimate Power
Solid Strike
Tactical Strike (2012 Release)
Xtreme Damage Solid (2012 Release)
Xtreme Damage
Sting Widow Maker
Buzz Premium Edition
Black Diamond Reactive
Black Diamond Particle Pearl
Blue Diamond Particle Pearl
Terminator Resurrection"

The Buzz Premium Edition was much stronger than I had expected in oil. I would compare it in oil (not backend) to my 2000 Abralon dulled Storm Virtual Gravity Nano drilled similarly. The Buzz PE worked well for me on a medium-heavy shot, but was too much for THS. I hope the High Standard has a weaker coverstock to make it suitable for medium conditions.
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

T Bone,
My turn to apologize: I did not think you were coming accross as a know-it-all. I admit sometimes I paint things too black-and-white and I appear like a know-it-all.
What I had meant to imply was that there is not that huge a difference between the Buzz Premiun and the apparent look & ball reaction of the High Standard. As Scott pointed out, LM think it's for medium oil at a minimum. While Joe Cerrar of BJI admittedly loves most LaneMasters balls, I believe BTM gives a better objective appraisal of their capabilities. I also believe the Buzz Prem is much stronger than indicated and the High Standard won't handle quite as much as Heavy oil. It may wind up being that handle the same amount, with just different ball paths. We won't know until a few people hand in their judgments.
Right now I tend towards the HS being handling slightly more oil with much more overall hook and backend. But that is just a guess from the video of the HS on my part.

678 out of the box , very smooth and controlled, tons of hitting power . did not expect the ball to move as much as it did considering the finish . Lane Master has a winner here !

Lance Emerson down here in Pat Patterson territory just got his HS2 drilled two weeks ago and shot 300, 299, 266 in league for an 865 series. That pretty much ties up high series for the year in our area. By the way, he likes the ball.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Black Diamond Particle Pearl, 15 pounds. Pin longer than 2.5 would be appreciated. If you know of a shop or someone hanging onto one please let them know someone out there will take it off there hands! I just ordered the HS 2. Spoke with Galen earlier today looking for a Black Diamond Particle Pearl. They do not have any in the warehouse and he is not sure when they will do another run. Dropped my name on a "futures list" and will notify me when they get them back in. I have the Black Pearl, and Black Diamond. Great Balls........hope these guys stick around in some form.
