Most backend
« on: April 09, 2007, 06:17:13 PM »
I am looking to try out a Legends/Lanemaster ball for the first time and really want a nice long ball with a huge backend.  Which of all the current balls out right now has the biggest backend and can you compare it to any other ball from other companies I might have thrown?

To be honest, not really any of the Legends/Lanemaster balls are huge backending balls. This due to the core shapes and strong coverstocks they use.

Most of their balls use very strong resins to offset the use of lower diff cores.

Maybe something like Big-R Bang or the Black Pearl is what your looking for, but if you want a monster backend on a the ball, you want a strong asym core with a pearl or solid reactive cover.

How much oil are you bowling on now and what ball and drill are you using?

Several of their balls are large hooking and have large backends, but they do that on different amounts of oil ...

well some may disagree with me on tis but my buzz drilled 4 x 4 1/4 is absolutly nasty on the backend of medium-light patterns, good length and very sharp turn on the back, I wasn't expecting the ball to do that. But I like it.

The Buzz I'd say was the longest length and hardest snap.  Of course, depending on how it's laid out, your technique and what you bowling on.

Mine is laid out pin up over my ring w/ 90 deg. layout.  Very comparable for me as The One and has as many games on it now as my The One last year with no loss of reaction. Take care of my equipment so it's a much better ball/cover IMO.

Thanks for the reply, the Big R Bang from what I have read is the one I thought would be what I was looking for.  I have about 380 revs @ 15.5-16mph and bowl on wood lanes, average oil.  Right now I am throwing a TNV mostly and I like it alot, I used the #1 drill.  I tend to like the skid snap reaction and I am looking for something longer and stronger than the TNV.  The Big R Bang is the Legends/Lanemasters ball that I had thought would be the one that I was looking for.  Have any of you thrown those two with similar drills?  Which one is stronger?

I don't think that there's anything longer and stronger than the TNV, truth be told.  However, the even roll, durability, and carry of the LM's are phenomenal.  I like my Black Pearl leverage stacked and polished, it makes a nice late move and is clean through the heads.

That is interesting because my Silver Streak SE was a little longer and stronger than my TNV and my TNV was drilled to go long while my SE wasn't drilled to go as long as I couldve drilled it but I guess it is all in your style and the matchup between you and the ball.

The Big-R Bang was quite angular on the backend for me...  Everything else I have tried (limited amount) has been exceedly smooth and even rolling.  I've heard the Big Bang is a similar reaction, just on heavier volumes of oil.
