Drilled my hornet today
« on: July 06, 2007, 02:46:45 PM »
I punched it up, 4.5 x 4.  Havent decided if im gonna use a weight hole or not, seems to roll jsut fine as of now tho.

I only had time for 1 game, in a center that i havent figured out how to slide in yet(fairly new synthetic aproaches, very humid in the center).  I bowled on the USBC senior master pattern variation(i will explain).

The pattern was the USBC senior masters shot, with about 80games or so bowled on it.   Then the house shot was put on OVER it, but it only stripped the back ends because there is no league tonight & they didnt feel like wasting the stripper on open bowlers.  So what i had was pure flood outside of 7, bone dry deep, & the strongest backends ive ever seen.

I tried to find a line with my WCP but couldnt, i got as deep as playing 25 to 10 & still went brooklyn, so i went to my TJ layout TNV, playing 20-10 with really good speed & not much hand i was able to get it to the pocket.

I found a great line, soft hand, playing up 10 with the hornet.  Now, this being a very squirrely pattern, & REALLY tough on top of freakishly strange, i feel like i could have averaged close to 200 with the hornet, while everything else ihad would have given me mid 170s at best.

The hornet was great off the spot, not jumpy at all, it got TONS of length(45ish ft) b4 making the turn, & hit like a truck....although this is typical of l/lm stuff from what ive seen.

I will do my best to get a vid of it up soon, but i may wait until i get either a buzz or world class reactive, & make a video with all 3 balls at once.

BTW, this is the red version of the hornet, which i like, simply because i never see red equipmetn anymore.

I think you will absolutely love this ball. I do. It is quite versatile aside from a heavier pattern. Not jumpy but a nice gradual move, very reminescent of urethane. The ball hits harder than anything I have thrown.

Definitely hard-hitting ... I finally tried it on the CHEETAH pattern last week and had great success with this ball (see profile for layout).
