Most of their polished pearls use an 800 grit US surface (light grey nylon pad) under a heavy duty load of the Factory Finish polish.

If you've used a maroon nylon pad on it (approx. 320 grit US), I'd suggest using the maroon nylon ad and redo the whole ball, smoothly. Then use a green nylon pad on the whole ball, bringing it to approx 600 grit US. Then use a light grey pad on it to bring it to 800 grit US. Then use their Factory Finish polish to put a high gloss shine on it.

Since everyone's hand application is a little different, you may need either a rougher surface under the polish (green pad/600 grit US) or a finer, smoother finish under the polish (2000 grit Abralon = approx 1000 grit US) to get the same reaction as you did out of the box.

All the above assumes you're using a spinner. If not, take it to a pro shop and ask them to do it.

Charlest, Thank you Thank You Thank You!

I do have access to a spinner...that's what got me in trouble in the first place. The Proshop I go to allows me to get behind the counter and let's me use the spinner. There were a whole bunch of worn out abralon pads and I knew the BPR had a lower grit...I just didn't know what, so I just grabbed a maroon pad (bad mistake) and went at it with the four step approach. It looked pretty bad but thought I'd just throw the polish on there and it should get rid of all the grooves Wrong! So...I'll just get back in there and try again. Thanks!

I suggest: Do not use a pro shop's worn out or even used Abalon pads. Most tend to overuse them to the extreme. I've seen this several times now. They keep using them until they disintegrate in their hands. If you have to, compare them to a brand new one and if they don't feel the same, don't use the used one.
