Masterpiece coverstock alteration

Mine is drilled ~5" pin to PAP, above the ring finger.  It is OOB polished.  I have cleaned it with LM cleaner and re-polished it with LM polish, by hand.  It was drilled this way with the intent of playing a down and in shot or at most a slight belly in the track area.  I am not a cranker!

I find that it goes a tad  too long in medium and even lighter oil, and the breakpoint is unpredictable.  I plan on using either a white or grey scotch brite pad on it. This will get rid of the polish, but will it also alter the surface much?  I just want to smooth out the reaction slightly.  Is this a good first step?  Any other suggestions?

Lefty, I'm a little confused.  But maybe it's my fault, not explaining myself correctly.  Right now my Masterpiece goes a little longer than I like, and snaps a little too much on the backend.  What I want is to have it hook a little earlier with a smoother arc.

Are you really in Hawaii?  Yesterday, here in Buffalo we had 60MPH winds with snow and temps in the teens.  Must be nice!

have you tried any of the pads that came with the ball? such as the gray pad or burgundy pad?

When I referred to white or gray scotchbrite pad above, I meant the white or gray LM pads.  I assumed LM white, gray, burgandy and green pads were the same as scotch brite.  Anyway, I'm going to try the white or gray pads with a little water tonight and see what that does.

White pad won't do anything; try the grey pad by hand. Haze about 1/2 of the bal, then test.

The MP coverstock is very hard.

I use the grey very softly, when i want to knock off the polish. Did it tonight and got a ball that was way more predictable and even.

I just finished scuffing it, and charlest was correct.  The white pad did next to nothing, but the grey pad knocked off the shine.  The problem is, now the ball doesn't look so good!  It's such a beautiful ball when polished, I hate to see it dulled.  I will try it tomorrow night and see what type of reaction I get.  Who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with a dull Masterpiece!

Yeah polish makes it look good but the purpose of polish is to provide length and more pop on the backend... Both of which you say you have too much of.  The ball should work much better for you now

I hope you didn't knock off too much. This ball gets VERY aggressive when totally sanded.

It's alright if I did take off too much.  I can always take it in to the pro shop and have Jack sand it and repolish it.  Or I can put a little LM polish on it myself by hand. I'm very interested to see what it does tonight with this duller finish.
