L/LM Ball
« on: February 17, 2007, 09:50:16 AM »
Of the current line-up, if you could pick one L/LM ball to take along with you to reno, which would it be and why?  The pattern is now posted, so that may help in your decision.  From last year in CC, it appears to be a foot longer pattern, with a little more oil overall and a little flatter pattern overall.

My 2 cents:
If I had to take one Lm/L ball, I'd probably take the New Standard, with a 5x3 (5x4, 5x3.5) drill (no weight hole, if possible; a flare reducing weight hole if absolutely necessary), pin over the center of the bridge and a 2000/4000 grit matte finish.

I'd still play a inside shot (4th - 5th arrow), with a breakpoint in the 10-12 board range (depending). If the oil is slightly longer and slightly flatter, you need a control ball, with "some" hitting power (the NS has an incredibly wide pocket). The drill because 99 times out 100 at Nationals, you will be playing inside shot, with the outside being an out of bounds for any of several different reasons (too much oil, too little oil, or spottiness).

I concut with Charlest (although I have no experiences there); FWIW, it think that the Terminator could work too with the proper layout and coverstcok adjustments for the pattern.

Not bad advice.  I like the NS2 2000 abralon if you can get it down the lanes very even and rolly.  Cut down on your tilt.  Smoooooooootttttthhhh baby.

I talked to Eric Pierson <he does the lanes for USBC from Cheeseland> in Jan. before he left for Reno...believes it will be tighter on new surface at Reno this year.  A 4:1 ratio.

Rolled on a 3:1 ratio tourney this weekend and stunk up the joint but I wasn't the only one.

Sheesh I sucked Rob.  Having the flu didn't help.  I didn't know you knew Kevin H. and John S. but I should have known John S.  I just plain flat sucked.

Are you going end of March w/ Kevin both squads.  I'm up for it with a different game plan.  I don't know what I was thinking with some of the equipment I took.  Good practice for Natl's though.  BTW.........I would not think about a Shift at Willow to skid-snappy for me. Left to many big splits. Kevin wants you to bowl if you can make it.  Give him a call.

Sorry S_S for the TJ.  But this is actually kind of a related flat pattern tournament run in WI in GBay.  Same type of equipment works there as at Natl's IMO.

What time did you bowl? I was there for noon and 3 - 574 on the fresh, 674 on the hey where did the oil go shift.

I assume you're referring to hatch - he knows how to get in touch with me....I don't have his number.
