Lane Masters XS Power

I'm new to the site and a Legends/Lane Masters fan.  I noticed that there were no posts for the XS Power, so here goes. As with my 4 other Legends/Lane Master balls, I love it!  It's a great ball for medium, house-shot conditions.  Just as they say on their website, it's a good ball for fresh patterns where you can lay it down on the foul line and still have a ton of hitting power at the pin deck.  My first dozen games with it averaged 225+.  To reinforce the concept, whenever I "forget" what ball I'm rolling and loft it out on the lane I leave soft 10-pins or the dreaded 7-10 pocket hits. If I give it a little extra turn, ringing tens are prominent or designer splits on patterns that are beginning to breakdown.  My pin in below the ring finger with a weight hole which gives me a good read of the midlane and when it turns toward the pocket will rip the rack, often with a messenger or two as insurance.  This and my Sting are my two favorite house balls.  I began bowling again one year ago and the balls I had drilled then (Black Widow, Special Agent) are "dead" and need reconditioning.  It appears that durability is one of the key features of Lane Masters balls as I have seen no signs of deterioration in any of 5 balls I have.

Soon to be "Super Senior". Began bowling in the sixties. Went to polyester in the seventies and finished in the early eighties with Urethane which was the "big hook" power ball of the time. Started bowling again in early 2007 and still "learning" about the new technology and threw away all the old balls.

i just received my xs power and will use it for first time tonight.
LM description of this ball is 800 matte finish.
mine seems to have a shine to it.
did yours come that way?
i thought matte was a dull finish.

From the time the ball was submitted for reviews and the time it was manufactured as a regular ball in thei rlineup, they changed the base finish to a sheen or lightly polished finish. I think they believe it will suit more people's games than the dull, 800 grit original finish. Many manufacturers do this at the last "minute".

Since 99% of users do NOT EVER change a ball's surface, they (most manufcaturers) strive to make a ball the most usable it can be, by the greatest number of people. The bigger mistake is to NOT change the surface, even at the last moment. Typical of that mistake is the Brunswick Radical Inferno highly polished stock surface; Brunswick reps eventually admitted, here on ballreviews, that the ball should have come with a ROugh Buff finish, not a High Gloss polish finish.

Most of us here on ballreviews realize that the stock surface is just a "suggestion" and we change it to be whatever we need for where we want to use the ball.

i see.
i posted a another thread that has not shown up yet about this so it will now be duplicity.
i will see about taking the finish down to suite my needs with either abralon or scotchbrite to get it to the surface i thought OBO would be.
which would be better to do that, abralon or scotchbrite pad of some color?

It's a solid resin; so I believe that it makes little difference. Use whichever is most convenient. I'd start with 800/1000 grit, with plenty of water, as per usual, and work your way up or down, as needs be.
