........on truly light-to toast oil?
Im in the market for a light oil ball as my liberator just doesnt quite do what i want it too. So I'm just curious how well this ball really does on dry or short patterns. anybody with any experience please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

I htink it is a lot like the Neptune.
It gets very easy length, actually easier than the Neptune, but if you want to cut down on the backend, you might have to use longer pin to PAP distances.

I used a 4" pin to PAP and it got thru the lightest of oils with ease, but it had a very strong backend for me. (This was my old release about 18 months ago.) SO strong, rather than redrill it, I sold it.

If you have higher ball speed, you will normally see less backend.
OR you can drill it with 5" to 5" pin to PAP. It doesn't not have to be a high pin. That would make it even flippier. This is a true hard ball. You cna leave it at the height of the fingers or even below the fingers if your release permits it.

FYI it does have Lanemasters traditional hitting power.

thanks for the info . But what do you think a lower pin to pap would do on this ball? like a 2.5" pin-pap distance?

I have a Hornet, and I love it, generally speaking. It is especially good on flatter patterns.

Now...having said all that......the ball has a big backend, just like Charlest said. A shorter pin to pap, probably would calm it down a bit, but it would also make it arc more.

This is an interesting idea. With the easy length that it gets, it probably would work. Worth a shot. Let me know if you try it.

It could be good for a more controlled ball path, depending on your other release specs, ball speed and the oil pattern/amount. The Hornet's normally easy length might allow this to be a good drilling for people that do not have a high ball speed. (most balls drilled with a less than levverage distance needs the bowler to have a higher than average ball speed. The rest of us need longer pin distances.)

Yea i dont consider myself to have above average ballspeed. The reason i asked about it is because my mighty shift is drilled with a 2.5" and i love how smooth it rolls.
