That's more or less what everyone says.  Works great, smells terrible.

My sentiments exactly, especially since he's decided to use something I've said as a signature of sorts?

Fact is every pro shop worth a tinker's darn has acetone floating around somewhere.  Mostly to remove excess glue, but this stuff does the best job of unclogging polish clogged pores and is great for removing that whitish haze that you see in Activator based coverstocks from time to time.

Clean and Dull is what I used for the longest time. When Track got bought from Ebonite, their products went under until Powerhouse just recently produced them again. I started using Storm's XTRA Clean, and now I'm just pure acetone. Cheapest and best stuff on the market IMO.

Clean and Dull is a VERY good product although. Made the ball look the best and the most consistent reaction out of the two cleaners.

Ok thanx, anybody else. I think acetone messes with the ball though.

Whatever acetone does is irrelevant.  Maybe it was true 20 years ago, maybe it's not true anymore, maybe it is still true.  Doesn't matter.  It's on the "Not acceptable at any time" list and it's illegal to use on a bowling ball.  I don't care if every self-respecting pro shop uses it.  It.  Is.  Illegal.  For.  Use.  On.  Bowling.  Balls.

If you want a good cleaner for everyday use, the Legends cleaner or Track/Powerhouse Power Wash.  For every now and then deep cleaning, Clean & Dull is the way to go.  Worth the money.

If it was illegal, pros would not be using it on their balls either now would they?

What proof do they have that you used Acetone on your ball to clean it? It does not make since. lol..

No, you're right.  I can't imagine a professional athlete doing something against the rules.  No siree bob.  My most humble apologies for suggesting that you and professional bowlers would stoop so low as to use a substance on the Not acceptable at any time list.  Notice how acetone is most assuredly not the second one down in the right column.  Definitely not illegal.

Pros also bowl with different rules than are used in standard USBC sanctioned competition.  Maybe it's acceptable for them.  If so, send me the link and I'll send you $5.

I still use legal stuff. Storm Xtra Clean, and Black Magic XL polish. Acetone is just used to get the oil out of the ball.

Well as long as you're only using to get the oil out of the ball, I guess it's ok.  Looking at the list, I can see that there's a note that says "Acetone is legal as long as it's just used to get the oil out of the ball.  Using acetone for any other purpose is expressly forbidden."  Can you imagine if your motives weren't pure?  Why, you'd be breaking the rules then.
