I normally buy my stuff from joe at all star, but where do you buy your l/l stuff and why?  I'm getting ready to buy one or two and I'm interested to see my options...

Best price by FAR is AllStarBowling-Joe ... I've bought from BowlingBallMall too in the past and had AnneMarie Duggan drill up 5 ball for me to date; both do a great job drilling but Joe's prices bought, drilled, and shipped are lower.

I'm ordering a black pearl directly from lanemasters with my pba discount.  I should have thought of that sooner.  I'm looking for something with a strong backend that will be a benchmark type of ball, and the particle pearl with that core look like its a good matchup.  Anyone thrown this one yet to confirm?

I'm a stroker and love all the backend I can get.  Usually, heavy oil balls, I consider to be mediums for me...Thanks for the response though, I'm kinda going into this thing blind and hope I'm making the right choice....

My local driller/pro...the few $$$ I'd save via internet is not worth the hassle nor any warranty issues if they should come up. If, he makes another $10 big deal so be it.

Long Roller, Robb is correct in all he said here. Go with AllStarBowling-Joe. He is way lower by a bunch. I've bought two Legends balls from Joe with no problems. Specs were exactly what I asked for.

I have to assume that Jim/Brick, Robb and others that buy from AllStarbolwing.com are not paying the same price as he is advertising.  Correct?

If you paid what he lists on his site I paid no more than that from my local driller.

I use Switch Grips which once the driller has your specs. and knows the Switch Grip system he/she can drill a ball as fast as any ball.  Laying out, drilling, etc. takes my driller no more than 20-25 mins. including weighing and an X hole if it needs it.

Even for the highest $$$ balls I have not paid over $200 yet including tax.

I'll stay local.

What do you guys do if any ball you get drilled is not correct if you let AllStar-Joe drill it?

Scott, Joe's listed price is $149 "Shipped". If you pay that same price to your driller, then I too would stay with that driller as that price is cheaper than any other driller I know of whether on line or local. Buddies online price is $152.50 shipped at the moment. I have to buy online because my pro shop doesn't carry Legends balls and won't order them. To sum it up, if I want a Legends ball, I am forced to buy it on line.

With your not ever paying over $200 drilled including tax for a premium ball, then yes, you need to stay with your local driller. I know I would and most other bowlers on this site would also, I believe.

Joe doesn't drill my balls as the driller I go to does my drilling, so being incorrect is not a problem for me.

Scott,
Joe stands behind his work ... if it's not right, you send it back and he replaces it; BTW, I sent him layout specs and a "reference ball" and he made thumb models for my stuff, so they come is without any issues.

Understand Jim and Robb your situations.  I'd happily pay my local guy a bit more.  He gives me great service and that's what I am paying for.  Always has good suggestions and knows the technical aspect of the game better than anyone if this area.  He stands behind his work and will make it always right.

I am very leery after all stories about many on-line sellers.  FYI.....you may have had good service from ASB but some others have not.
