Ok, the unofficial review of the Terminator Rebellion:
Length, length, length. Same shape move as the original terminator, but very speed sensative. Drilled two of these -- one stacked leverage, the other a modified Rico (pin 1 1/2" above center grip due to me being a high track player). Tried them out at Creekside (where the Gathering is going to be held next week) on their normal house shot. I'll talk about the one that is like my original terminator (modified Rico), but what holds true for one holds true for both.
If these are in the hands of someone who is either speed/revs balanced, or rev dominant -- they will play better OOB than someone who (like me) is more speed dominant. Do not be suprised if you have to knock the stock surface down to get some extra grip.
I started playing over the second arrow out to about 4/5 at the breakpoint, and as long as I stayed at about 14.7 to 15.2 mph, I'd put it in the pocket. Any faster and I'd discover the joys of trying to pick up a 1/2/10 or 1/2/4/8 leave. When I decided to play over the 6 at the arrows and 3 at the breakpoint and come up the back more, it played better -- could get up to 15.6 before missing the headpin.
This ball could be a good/great Cheetah ball when you have enough dry to make it work, but I feel this is a great 'training' ball -- meaning training the bowler to be a control bowler, because you have a very narrow 'happy zone' where it loves to be in. Tiptoe out of the zone, and you'll either have stone 9's, flat or ringing 10's, or a 6 or 7 count. But if you're used to a ball that you can really turn loose with -- the TR isn't the ball for you.
Does it have the same move that the original Terminator had/has? Yes, but sometimes I wished I had another foot or two of lane to have it develop. I didn't have my scotchbrite or Abralon pad in the bag to dull it down, will try that this week and append to this post.
A great 1-2 punch w/the original Terminator? Yes, but to really work in an arsenal, there will probably need to be a fill ball to go between these two -- unless you have a 4 ball arsenal where there's 2 Terminators and 2 TR's.
And that's all for right now.
