Masterpiece Cover
« on: July 14, 2006, 02:40:14 PM »
Question for Legends user, is the cover of the Masterpiece solid or pearl.  Also does Legends/Lane Master have a solid reactive ball in the arsenal?  Thanks.

The MP has a pearl cover ... and the World Class reactive was just approved by USBC last week and is becoming available in various area ... and rumor has it that they are coming out with a Big Bang reactive in the future too.

BowlingBallMall.com usually gets the "L/L" balls quickly because AnneMarie Duggan is on Legends staff; contact Pat Duggan at (405) 282-2695 or his email at

I have 3 of the 4 current balls that They market as resin or reactive resin: Masterpiece, SatisfaXion, and Absolute Power. I don;t have the Buzz but they themselves call it a pearl. The Masterpiece and the Satisfaxion, you can definitely see pearlized flecks in the coverstocks. However, with the Absolute Power, which they call a reactive on their website, both Buddies and Lanemasters, when I asked Buddies from whom I purchased mine, to check with Lanemasters, both said it was a pearl. BUT if you look at it closely, well, I can't see any pearlization, whether I put a high gloss on it or a sanding.

Thanks, both the Legends website and BTM do not comment on whether the cover is a solid or pearl.  I have the BK, New Standard and the Buzz and love all three.  As a matter of fact, I still use two AZO balls, the Illusion and Fantasy X pearl and have a few others in the "bullpen."

While we should know what the coverstock's composition is, what we really need to know is the ball's reaction. After all, as the old saying goes, buy a "ball reaction", not a ball.
