My New L/LM CONQUERER w/Pictures
« on: June 29, 2007, 11:12:08 AM »
I got my Conquerer drilled up yesterday, the ball came 15lbs 3oz with a 3.0" pin and 3 oz of TW. This ball is amazingly strong, especially for my typical house layout(newer synthetic lanes, 38' of oil buffed out to 45' using CONTROL oil with OB outside of the 8 board). I plan on throwing it again tonight with the center running a bit more oil tonight(I'm having them double oil a pair of lanes). I will post another mini-review after I throw it some more.

It is number 317 of 500.

Here are some pictures:

wow, the ball DOES look nice, too bad i would never have a use for it unless i went to nationals.  Every center in houston is fairly dry.  The slick centers allow me to play 15-10 or so, with something fairly weak.

On a side note....HUGE bridge & zero bevel on the thumb....i couldnt throw your equipment with someone elses hand.  That just looks painful to me.

The bridge does look wide in the picture but it's only 1/4", and yes there is no bevel on the thumb.  It keeps me from trying to squeeze the ball and it definetly keeps people from trying my equipment.

I can't compare it to the Terminator, but compared to my Big Bang(pics in profile), it's got it by a few boards based on where I stand on the approach, but a much different roll down the lane.

Pat,

Can you describe how the roll is different?

It covers a lot of boards, but with a very smooth continous roll.  It is actually the smoothest ball.

Charlest,

The Big Bang glides through the heads and midlane and has a very aggressive move once it hits dry, like a pearl reactive would do or the reaction shape of what my Black Pearl does.  The Conquerer rolls like my Masterpiece, it clears the heads rather easily, it's very rolley through the mids and very, very aggressive on the backend. According to some by-standers(some reliable and some unreliable sources), they actually thought I had switched to 16lb equipment, based on the impact at the pins.

I can find myself using this ball on a minimum of: med/heavy-oil.

Hope this helps,

Pat,

Because everything is relative, (Having just seen a friend use a BB for the first time), I'd guess the CQ just handles more oil because its surface and core is more aggressive than your BB. Might be due to oil or ball speed or ?
but your descriptions of balls (and, possibly drillings) intended to handle differing amount of oils. Also the BB's core is designed for length and backend compared to its companion, the World Class, whose core is designed for early roll (with their, BB & WC, coverstocks being roughly equivalent). So maybe the more appropriate comparison should be between the WC and the CQ???

Funny about the 16 lb ball "switch"; guess they don't care for your 15 lb balls?

I don't have a World Class to compare it with, at least not yet

They fear my balls................

I wondered when someone was going to post about this ball.  My friend has had his for a couple of weeks.  It looks really good when he throws it.  I almost bought one for myself to leave undrilled, and then another one drilled

I talked to my pro shop guy yesterday about this ball and he said he had no idea on this ball. I am building a new arsenal for the upcoming season and I started with a T-Road Pearl and I said I need a heavy oil ball for right now till after august and I come back from a tournament. Well he told me they only made like 500 of these balls so I said grab one up for me if he can cause I think this would do the job very well.
