Considering trying Legends/Lane Masters...
« on: November 26, 2006, 09:07:12 AM »
I've done a lot of reading on different ball companies, and I've finally decided that I'd like to try Legends/Lane Masters balls.  I've planned out an arsenal, and I'd like a little help on it.

This what I have planned.  Arranged by ability to handle oil, from most to least:

World Class
Terminator
Big Bang Reactive
[open]
Plastic

I am planning to leave everything OOB except maybe the WC (see second question below), unless you guys have better suggestions.

Two questions regarding the arsenal:

* Should I take out the World Class Reactive and knock it down to 4 balls?  I fear the BRB and the WCR might overlap each other...

* How good is the WC coverstock in OOB condition?  Is it strong enough to handle heavy oil patterns, or should it be dulled down a bit?

Comments and suggestions appreciated.

BRB and WCR are too close in oil hnadling ability unless you drill them very differently or change the surface of one of them a lot.

If you stick to this list and truly have "medium" revs, then you have nothing for lighter oil, as the WCR and the BRB both handle medium oil.

Yes, the WC (particle) is strong enough for heavy oil in box surface IF you have true medium revs (275-350 rpms).

Since you ONLY have one ball now, a Track Spell, a relatively old ball, this could be a very expensive and frustrating experiment if you find out you don't like Lanemaster balls or your style cannot use them or your driller does not drill them correctly for your release on the oil patterns you face daily.

Make it a point to get the Absolute Power for medium-light to medium.  I have thrown many, many balls and it ranks in the top 3 of all of them.  Carries from many angles and leaves very few corner pins.  An absolute winner and I well advise you to try this ball.

Hmmmm, how about The Buzz over the WCR?

I'm probably borderline Medium when it comes to revs...  I throw about 250-300 RPM...

I'll most likely try the BRB first.

Depending on how you find and use the Spell, the Buzz may be right below it in oil handling, while the BRB might be right with it. The SPell polished was for medium-light to medium; dull (it was a particle ball) it was for medium to slightly heavier.

I think charlest hit on the head here. Why go with the whole line up?  Find one of the LM/L balls that fills a void and build from there.  Find out if it works for you first before you lay out a lot of $$$.

Scott, you missed what I said here...

I'll definitely try the BRB first, as my Spell is dull, and I'll put in the Buzz over the WCR.  Thanks for the help guys, especially charlest.
