Hey Suhoney24, don't get lost in the translation, this ball comes in 14, 15 & 16 with the same core, when you change from 1 pound to another, the Rg & Diff. numbers slightly change but it's the same ball.

Even though cover is the most important aspect of ball reaction, some of these companies use cores from pre 2006 which boast huge differences from 14-16 lbs (ie the Fe2 core from the hyroad). Nowadays, most companies keep the numbers closer. It is just nice to know. As I moved down from 15 to 14 there were balls I had that I read and rolled with the same layout and didn't react the same way in a noticeable difference.

Example. My 15lb Morich Ravage with same layout and cover prep can cover the entire lane while my 14lb Ravage hooks much sooner and is 5 boards left of the 15. This is in no way me saying that this is a difference that every bowler will see, but it can entice or deter bowlers buying balls.

The numbers I posted are for the Columbia 300 Blur line which also are a line of 14's that I would not use in that they are so out of the 15 lb. specs...so yes if you don't know the numbers it's a shot in the dark.

Great research Charlest. That would deter me unless I were looking for a specific reaction type or layout. RG too high and diff too low in 14 to be useable for most patterns I bowl on.

I have had some hip problems that forced me to 14 lb balls about 2 years ago. LM being one of my favorite brands I tried to get a bunch of older LM NIB balls, as well as several newer ones and found this difference. That corroborated what I suspected from the reaction of the 14s. I've been using much stronger pin positions AND flare increasing weight holes that I never used to use with 15 lb. balls to compensate for the extra high RGs and low diffierentials.

I tore my bicep and just decided to stick with 14s. I love the look on THS and they keep me square on sport patterns. I have learned what to like and what to throw that other ppl hated in 15lbs.
