Used NS2

So the owner of the pro shop at our local bowling center has his NS2 for sale.  He takes care of his equipment, and this is a first drill ball.

What are your thoughts on a used NS2?  I have been throwing a Hammer No Mercy which is somewhat dying on me - not to mention getting tired of the maintenance on the NM.  Need to keep it clean all the time.

I've been looking for a more consistent rolling ball - not the 'flippy' roll I get from my NM.  I have also been hearing and been reading about how Legends/LM balls are so well made, lasts longer, etc.

Since we're on the subject, I intend to get the NS2 and build up my arsenal from there.  Any other suggestions on balls that would complement the NS2 - if I were to get it of course.

I've got a couple of them, they are great balls - but you need oil to maximize the potential of the ball.  If it's in good condition and you wouldn't need to do too much changing of the layout - jump on it.

As far as what complement it - that particular core family would be:
New Standard
NS2
Black Pearl
Black Pearl Reactive
Black Diamond.

Any in the family would directly complement it depending on the amount of oil you'll see.  If you want a bit more contrast - you can go with the Strike line (Sure Strike / CounterStrike / Solid Strike).

If it is in good shape, I'd go for it. Ball appears to be very durable, I just heard from my pro shop that there had been some cracking issues on finger holes for some customers, but I cannot confirm that from my specimen.

Ball IS an oiler, despite its sheen OOB finish. The high particle load creates traction galore, esp. early on the lane. Needs head oil, ignore carrydown, you have to know when to bag it. When I got mine I was warned by BR.com users not to use a too rolly drilling on it, even for oil use, and they were/are definitively correct.

I'd use the NS2 just for what it was designed for - oil - and probably anything else will fit under it, for less oil and for a longer/flippier reaction.

So, I bit the bullet so to speak and picked up this NS2.  I lucked out because the ball was drilled with span just about identical to mine.  Since the guy owned the pro shop, he even thew in an drilled thumb slug finger inserts to my specs.

Threw some practice balls.  I can't get over how this ball goes down the lane!!!  had to adjust about 5 - 6 boards.  Can't wait to use this at our weekly league!

I am now a LM/L convert!
