I thought it was a great ball.
For Speed dominant players, it handled medium oil.
For rev dominant, it handled medium-heavy to heavy oil.
It had a heavy load of diamond particles; it came with a sheen finish. For Lanemasters then, that meant they put a high gloss polish on it and handrubbed it with a Scotch-Brite light grey pad (800 grit ANSI, 1600 grit FEPA), just to haze or remove the gloss appearance, leaving a matte finish.
As per normal, the duller you made the surface, the earlier it would hook and the more oil it would handle. If you polished it, it would handle less oil, going longer, but the diamond particles provided a strong turn at the backend.
RG min was 2.57, RG Max was 2.62, giving a .050" RG differential.
This made the heavy load of particles easier to get down the lane.
The diamond particles were sanded with diamond abrasive pads at the factory to 800 grit. Unless you had diamond pads, you could not change the diamonds' grit level, but you could change the resin in which they were embedded. The best abrasive pad to modify it was 3M's Trizact pads.
