Plugging Lanemaster Balls
« on: July 04, 2007, 07:38:15 AM »
Has anyone plugged and redrilled LM Balls ?  I am curious if you have seen a loss of reaction due to plugging. I am getting a couple of balls from a friend (black perl and hornet) and was wonding if plugging the thumb only will cause more oil to seep into the ball or cause a loss for reaction.  Just curious....

I have never heard of any adverse reaction when plugging a ball.. Unless of course it has multiple plugs in it that could cause the ball to roll over the track area..

The other issue with plugging the thumb only will NOT cause more oil to seep into the ball..

I have plugged and redrilled many, many balls over the years and only had a couple of isses with cracking..

In my personal experience, I have plugged and redrilled their resins and particles at least 8 -10 times and have seen no reduction in performance whatsoever. My pro shop has used the normal (?) urethane plug material.

So far, I can't kill these Lanemaster/Legends balls with a stick, so to speak. They boringly last seemingly forever. The only way I can get rid of them is to sell them or give them away. I have played with their surfaces until I'm almost sick of doing so and they always perform. Now if I could only reduce their hook somewhat ...  People I give them to seem to like them more than I do.

That was metaphorically speaking, John, ball whore #2. You can afford them; buy some more used ones from Anne Marie.

Some won't be here until NOVEMBER!!!
One of them until NEXT FEBRUARY. If I'm still alive then, I'll worry about them.

Lanemaster Lefty,
I have plugged several of mine to experiment with different layout, or make span adjustments and have never experience any adverse reactions or results! They are the most durable coverstock that I've ever worked on! They remind me of the Energizer Bunny, they keep going! Always remember, "Nothing ventured, Nothing gained"! Thanks, Bruce
