When I first got mine, I drilled it pin under the ring finger. The ball reaaction was so even I contacted Buddies from whom I bought it and asked them to call Lanemasters to see if the ball was a solid and not a pearl as advertised. They confirmed it was a pearl. It handled TRUE medium oil with ease and was a benchmark ball with this drilling.
Later, when I re-drilled it pin over the ring finger, it went longer and behaved more like a pearl, but still a fairly even reacting pearl. It also handled slightly less oil.
As this was about 4 - 5 years ago, I assume it would probably be a medium-light oil on todays conditions.

For me the AP1 was good on lighter mediums to light conditions. Mine was drilled pin over ring finger with the CG in the grip center. It was a very even reacting ball, good length with a smooth mild arc down lane. It was quite controllable with good predictability.

Great ball, I bought mine used from mrbowlingnut, ball has many games on it and still looks new and hits like the first time I ever threw it. This is with minimal maintenance. I agree with the others about this ball. It is a very hard hitting ball, for such an even rolling ball. It is first out of the bag and if I can keep it in my hands all three games, I usually shoot 700 or better. Last year I threw 33 out of 36 natural strikes in a 9 pin tourney with it. I am bowling on old wood AMF lanes and they are quite dry on the outsides. As of now my league arsenal is the absolute, hornet and a xxxl. Since I have ruled out other balls, I have started to shoot very well.
