I don't throw L/LM balls, but does anyone think that because Lanemasters balls have no filler material, they sound different when rolling compared to other balls?

Not sure WHY ... BUT they DO have a distinct sound upon impact !!!

Wouldn't that be because there's no filler?

I'd say so, since the filler is more porous/less dense than coverstock material and absorbs energy - sound is another form of depleted energy, so a loud strike will tell you that a lot of energy went the sound way. But it does not necessarily indicate a "better" hit.

I also found that porous particle balls have a rather muffled sound upon impact. My old Blade Particle makes a much different sound than other reactive stuff.

of course... the structure and densitiy of the material is all about sound!

the more porous the material is the less the sound is transportet and the more the sound is "swallowed" by the material.

So the L/LM balls should sound "harder"... not a bad sideeffect imho
