Until now, Lanemasters was one of the few manufacturers of honest 2-piece balls. Dynothane had a few, Storm had a few, but by and large, everyone used fillers around the core. Most of Lanemasters cores were relatively small compared to others that didn't use fillers; for instance, the Rotogrip planet line doesn't, but the core is huge and there's little room for filler.
That's where the 11-12# of resin comes from.
However, since Lanemasters is bringing out balls that are outside the high-end premium market, they're making core-filler-cover balls (I don't count the Straight Flush or the Arrow). The Sure Strike is the first such ball from them.
The cover on it is somewhat thicker than some other manufacturers. Some use 1/2" of cover or less, whereas the Lanemasters balls will be 5/8". It's pretty new, but the few people that have it seem to like it just fine.
