First Strike is a "compound core" reactive pearl and the Sting is a high sheen, light-load, solid particle with the same low flare core as the BUZZ and Hornet. The Sting was designed for medium conditions and is due for release 16 July ... the First Strike is intended to match up with and to replace the Masterpiece.

Regarding the KONG ... it's a GREAT ball for when you have "built in" backends, BUT will skate on oil and isn't very good on carrydown. I happen to love mine and use it whenever the conditions allow me to use it effectively.

MrBowlingNut,

No beef on this side either......I should have stated that he did not completely put all his eggs in one basket, but he is just going to push the L/LM stuff much, much harder than everything else.  He pretty much just cleared an entire row on his wall for all the L/LM stuff he has(the boxes overwhelm everything else in his shop).

Sincerely,
Pat Patterson

I know as much about the real financial sitaution as Mike Miller does which is pretty much nothing, but i keep hearing about they are trying to outsource production to make balls with filler, cover and the core. That they can make about 250-300 balls a day with there current setup and the labor and the giant box is eating them up with extra shipping fees.

Hence they lose the free goodies and use a smaller box on the mid line products to cut down on some costs. When i keep hearing about how the reps for this company do not get paid commmision in a timely fashion and they have guys selling out of there trunks in the las vegas area it makes me wonder.

I could go find a guy that i will not name that sells the newer stuff for 100 that bowls out of the Sun Coast and sells older stuff for 75 a ball. A few local shops have even complained directly to Legends about this deal and this person still is able to keep his little side business going. Come on how are you supporting your local shop's with back door crap like this going down???

Just my opinion which i will always state on here even if i get haters, btw i like Storm products and have had my say on them in the past on here also. Mike Miller seems like a very nice guy and i agree the balls are top notch but he is just hurting himself to limit what brands he sells. To each there own whether it is good or bad and btw i have no beef with you Mr. Patterson so do not take it that way

For what it is worth, my local Pro-Shop Driller Mike Miller at Ten Pins and More in Rio Rancho, NM just switched from being a STORM VIP Shop to a LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS "Pro Performance Member"(he is now listed on their website under pro-shops).  Mike has been with STORM for what seems forever, I doubt Mike would "sign or switch to" a company that was having financial difficulties and was not planning on being around for the long-haul.  For Mike to switch from STORM to LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS in an area that is ruled by STORM, proves he believes that the LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS brand is far more superior and would have not made the jump if he truly did not believe in the product.  I am glad he switched and just did not settle on a one brand dominance(bold move on his part, financially speaking), it sure got me thinking of how long I could have been throwing this great product had he and I had known.  By the way, He drilled my 1st LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS ball in the "Black Pearl" last month and it is absolutely amazing. Actually, I am going by his shop this afternoon to have the "Big Bang" and maybe something else drilled up.

Let me ask one more question if I may.  The Pro that sold me and drilled my Masterpiece also has a used Kong sitting in his shop.  On the L/LM website, the Kong has a higher hook rating than the BK, NS and the YB.  But from what I understand, it does not handle as much oil as they do.  I see that it has a low Rg diff, but so does the BK.  Track flare is the same as the BK, much less than the NS or YB. Can anyone shed some light on why the Kong may not be a good oil ball?

I don't know the "why" of it. I do know what a close friend told me who was using a Kong back when. I found it hard to believe; so I bought one and drilled exactly like his: 4x4, pin under the ring finger. Sure enough it handled medium-light oil and skidded on medium oil. The BK and NS need medium oil as a bare minimum. They handle medium to medium-heavy oil in different manners. The BP does also. YB needs, for me, medium-heavy oil at a minimumor yo need to play very deep on medium oil.

www.cheapbowlingballs.com is showing 2 new L/LM balls for release in July.

They are calling one the "Sure Strike" instead of "First Strike"
The other is still to be called the "Sting"

Just an F.Y.I.

I certainly hope LM stays in business, and keeps producing superior products.  In my experience, their equipment is not the most aggressive stuff out there (unless I've bought the wrong balls, I dunno), but they do maintain their reaction better than the bigger companies, and there's something to be said for that.

The conqueror supposedly has the AP2 core, and the a cover at least similar if not the same as the Terminator.

The Sting doesn't have a high sheen! I took mine out of the block and was surprised to see a dull finish. You could still see the sand marks in the ball! The box says that it's black, but it looks like it also has a very dark or deep purple/burgundy look with the black mixed in. I hope this helps! Bruce

Get pic of the First Strike if your driller has one.

You know why I know he doesnt?  No ball has ever been produced, nor has any label even been produced with 'First Strike' as a name.  Neither has the Sure Strike been shipped.  And that is straight from Lane Masters.

jMiller88,
NOT to call you a liar but I doubt what you say; although the Conquerors ARE out there to specific pro shops and select individuals, the STING and Sure Strike have NOT been sent out to the distributors yet(I got this info directly from Legends Sales just today).

Hey Laybzz...the Stings are out.  I have seen them in person at the local shop.
